Went through my old collection, anything good?

A handful of these are in very good condition.

The Most Terrifying End of the World Dream

Last night I had one of the most surreal and terrifying dreams of my life.

I was in my hometown, except everything looked slightly wrong. It was recognizable, but “off” in a way I can’t fully explain. I was completely alone on a clear summer night stargazing. As I glanced at the stars I noticed the northern nights started fading in gradually. At first it was breathtaking, but as they got brighter, the entire sky itself started shifting through vivid colors. The colors were muted enough that it still looked like night, which somehow made it even creepier.

Then after a few seconds, these massive waves of color erupted upward slowly from the horizon line and started consuming more and more of the sky. It felt completely unstoppable. It almost looked like how I’d imagine the crazy visuals from hallucinogens. The atmosphere in the dream changed from awe to pure existential terror.

I remember turning and trying to run as the colors spread across everything. I was brought to my knees and right before the colors completely filled my vision, I genuinely thought “this is the end,” and I thanked God for everything before I got consumed by it.

Then I woke up immediately.

I cannot overstate how realistic this felt. This dream produced a feeling in me that I’ve never felt in my life. It honestly felt like what I imagine the end of the world would feel like, a mixture of beauty, inevitability, fear, helplessness and acceptance; all combined into one feeling. I’ve never had this experience in a dream before, even in nightmares.

The weirdest part is that it wasn’t a normal “something is chasing me” dream. It felt cosmic, like reality itself was changing. When I woke up, I even felt relieved that it was all fake, that’s how convinced I was. I had no alcohol or anything else in my system before sleeping, which honestly makes the intensity of it even harder for me to wrap my head around.

Has anyone else had dreams that created a unique feeling like this?

EDIT: The colors coming from the horizon line were unbelievably bright and were separated with weird horizontal lines that almost looked like Damascus steel.
