Got a G-Shock DW-5600RL-1DR from Flipkart India. Does it look genuine?

Hey everyone!

I bought a Casio G-Shock DW-5600RL-1DR on Flipkart, and it was delivered today. Since it's my first time buying a G-Shock, I just want to make sure everything looks legit before I decide to keep it.

Here are the details:

- Model: DW-5600RL-1DR

- Module: 3525

- Warranty: 2 years of Indian manufacturer warranty, as mentioned on the invoice

One thing that seems reassuring is that I registered the watch on the official Casio India website, and the registration was approved. It also shows an additional 183 days of warranty.

I've attached a few pictures of the watch, including the front, sides and case back.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on a few things:

  1. Does everything look right to you, especially the case-back engravings, screws, buttons and dial printing?

  2. How much confidence should I have in the approved Casio warranty registration? Is it a good sign, or can that happen with counterfeit watches too?

  3. Are there any specific things I should check on this model to make sure it's genuine?

  4. Would it be worth taking the watch to an authorised Casio service centre to get it checked?

I'm not saying it's fake or genuine just yet. I just want to be sure I got what I paid for, so I'd really appreciate any help from people who own this model or know G-Shocks well.

Thanks!

🇱🇰 Sri Lanka road trip in December: Can we actually pull this itinerary off?

Hello all,

A group of 4 from India are planning a 9 day trip to Sri Lanka in the first half of December.

Our current crazy but hopefully doable route:

D1: ✈️ Colombo → Sigiriya → Pidurangala sunset → Sigiriya

D2: Sigiriya → Kandy → Ambuluwawa → Ginigathena

D3: Ginigathena → Laxapana (Abseiling) → Aberdeen → Ginigathena

D4: Ginigathena → Bomburu Ella → Nanu Oya → 🚆 Train → Ella

D5: Ella → Little Adam's Peak → Diyaluma (Infinity Pool) → Mirissa

D6: 🐋 Whale watching → Coconut Tree Hill → Mirissa

D7: Mirissa → Weligama → 🏄 Surfing → Parrot Rock

D8: Mirissa → Rasta Swing → Galle Fort/Lighthouse → Galle

D9: Galle → Colombo → Red Mosque → Lotus Tower → ✈️ Airport

We're considering self driving a car, mainly because we'll be visiting some remote locations.

We'd love some real-world advice:

👉 Has anyone used a rental company that will transfer your car from Nanu Oya to Ella while you take the scenic train? If so, how much did it cost?

👉 Are the security deposits for self drive rentals fully refundable?

👉 Finally, we're looking for budget friendly stays for 4 people in Sigiriya, Ginigathena, Ella, Mirissa and Galle. Any hidden gems you'd recommend?

We're happy to sacrifice a few attractions if it means the trip feels better. We'd much rather hear "don't do this" from someone who's actually been there than blindly follow Google Maps. 😄

Thanks in advance!
