Camp Orchard South was a joke this year
The value proposition was terrible. Let's start with the good first:
- Close to Lion's Den, my favourite stage of the festival
- They did a great job of keeping the toilets clean.
Now, the bad.
- Not enough vendors, and the quality of the food vendors was atrocious. The Good Egg, for example, was decent in years passed, but this year you were paying £13 for a stale, barely defrosted bap with the worst quality sausage meat imaginable in it. Queue times were off the chart for all of the whopping 3 food vendors that were a reasonable distance from our campsite.
- Nowhere close to enough showers. Lines for the showers were 30+ minutes, which in the blazing heat and dust felt dangerous to queue in. I think I managed to get 1 shower in around 3pm on the Friday, where the line was only a blessed 10m.
- A long, slow, congested trudge from the main bowl. Took about 20-25m to get down there most days.
With the increased capacity, Camp Orchard felt like a total rip off this year. You would have been better off camping in one of the free sites. Not sure if I'd ever splash out on it again.
