[Online][LFDM][Private Group][D&D 5e 2024][EST][Paid] Group of Friends Seeking Beginner-Friendly One-Shot for First Tabletop Experience

Hey all,

We’re a private group of 4 friends looking for a DM to run an online one-shot, with the possibility of future sessions if the group and DM click well together.

Our group:

  • 4 adult players
  • 3 completely new to tabletop D&D
  • 1 returning player (last played around 1997)

While most of us are new to tabletop play, we do have a strong fantasy RPG background through games like Baldur’s Gate 1–3, Neverwinter Nights, and Icewind Dale, so we’re familiar with general D&D concepts, terminology, party roles, etc. We’re looking to learn how tabletop play actually flows and build good habits from the start.

What we’re looking for:

  • private table only
  • beginner-friendly onboarding experience
  • patient and collaborative DM
  • comfortable teaching mechanics/rules as they come up
  • okay with questions and occasional strategy discussion
  • friendly, non-adversarial style

System:

  • D&D 5e (2024 rules preferred)

Game style: Looking for a balanced mix of:

  • combat
  • roleplay opportunities
  • skill checks/problem solving
  • exploration/adventure

We want a fun and welcoming first tabletop experience more than an ultra-hard challenge.

Availability:

  • weekends
  • Eastern Time

Session length:

  • ideally around 4 hours

Platform:

  • Discord voice preferred
  • open to Owlbear, Roll20, Foundry, or similar

Budget:

  • paid
  • approximately $15–20/player

Character preferences: We’d strongly prefer either:

  • pre-generated characters with some customization options OR
  • guided beginner-friendly character creation

Level 2 characters would probably be ideal, but we’re open to your recommendation.

If interested, please message with:

  • your DM experience
  • experience teaching new players
  • preferred style/tone
  • platform/tools used
  • rates and availability

Bonus if you enjoy helping players understand not just what to do, but why.

Thanks!
