He has to show up in Horizon 2 right? *Spoilers*
He has shown up in every arc ending game. Sky 3rd, Azure, Cold Steel 4. Reverie was it's own thing so I get why he didn't show. But Falcom hasn't broken the pattern yet so I'm expecting him to once again have this out of the way sidequest where he helps Van figure out very important information while knowing things that a reporter simply couldn't know easily
About Agnes in Horizon 2 *Obvious spoilers*
Think maybe somehow the Agnes who joins the party and keeps that moveset for most of the game will be the alternate Sunshine Agnes who gave us the accessory? Until we resolve our Agnes situation?
A small question about the ending of Sky 1st *Spoilers*
Who is the minister of a certain country that Joshua killed? Is this something that was revealed later on and I missed it or forgot? Or just a small detail to fill out Joshua's story? This little line bugs me every time I finish FC.
The writing on Rocksmith was so weird in the beginning *Series spoilers*
He's introduced in Crossbell as this scheming weasel. Teaming up with Osborne (who's portrayed as much more imposing and sinister) and the SSS are pretty put off by him.
But then CS4 portrays him as a generally cool guy, might not be completely trustworthy but he can see the Empire needs stopping.
Then the Calvard arc just makes him this chill guy with lots of loyalty, doesn't resemble how he's portrayed in Crossbell OR Cold Steel 4 at all
They're going to nerf Wild Rage in the SC remake and make it possible to kill again aren't they? *Minor SC Spoilers*
I can't imagine Agate having the 1st chapter remake version of Wild Rage from the jump and just infinite S-Crafting all through the game the moment you get enough slots to unlock Clock Up EX. They're either nerfing Clock Up or they're nerfing Wild Rage to be back to pre Remake levels.
Or every boss in the game will now counter, which effectively neuters the strategy (but doesn't stop it, you just have to heal him again like the old games)
Were they just pretending? *Spoilers*
Agnes I mean. She clearly knew everything before the team left for Anchorville, even Renne and Van noticed her acting off, yet she was all shocked and distraught by the Vestiges and even pleaded with them as if she was just as clueless as the rest of ASO.
Was this just an act? It seems out of character for it to be one though
THAT'S HOW IT ENDED?!?! You guys had to wait years and still no news of the next game?!?!? *Spoilers*
OMFG Now I understand the people who were mad at the remakes being announced even though they're amazing, wtf you can't leave me hanging there
I figured that a reset was happening since the Grandmaster appeared in CS4 with her plan, but somehow I missed that a Septerrion would be the culprit even though I was wondering where the Calvard Septerrion was
Then the reveal that the artifacts are things from previous timelines, the statue was Excalibur, Rene is a Grendel, they still didn't tell what the deal is with Mare and Van, Grandmaster shows up to stunt on everyone at the end of the Garten, the Professor is the only real disciple, what is going oonnnn
Who was the masked Visage at the end there, was it Sheena Dirke? Mariabelle did a "HUH" reaction but I blanked out!
Why is Reins suddenly a discount Lechter? Even dressing like he did in Crossbell! Sorry Liberl, but he's not that guy
Is Nina related to the Grandmaster? Is she from the future like Risette? Is the Septerrion the one blocking out dialogue? Risette's memory orb had the same dialogue blocking effect. Will they explain Nina eventually
Why is Bergard even HERE? 2 game straight and he's just "I know the plot and I'm not telling you anything I'll just "..." or "I figured.." at big revelations because I'm so wise and cool"
AND THEY STILL DIDN'T ANNOUNCE A SEQUEL? YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WAITING YEARS AND THEY STILL DIDN'T ANNOUNCE A SEQUEL?!?!
I wanna cry. I didn't wanna catch up with the series but I couldn't help myself the games are too good! At least now I can read the threads and suffer with everyone else
I love this fanbase because you guys are good at lying to us new players to protect us from spoilers. Someone told me Reverie is stand alone and just an epilogue, won't affect the Calvard arc much. And the comment got upvoted. Ha!
Edit: I keep adding to this, but NOW I understand why Cold Steel 1 and 3 had those flash forwards. Different cycles !
This series is hilarious at times. Like what? Also don't tell me anything past this *Horizon Act 1 spoilers*
The entire series builds up the mysterious master of the 8 leaves and you never get to see him at all outside of hearing his voice through flashbacks, only for Van to randomly bump into him watching a concert. I was dumbstruck lmao
I know he's gonna play a big role because of the intro showing him, but I could not believe what I was seeing when I was doing my usual NPC hunt through Riverside and saw this mf just standing there
Edit: Okay Falcom are you for real..? You brought back Zodiac from Sky and BUFFED it by making it boost every single stat AND recover boost gauge? In a system where boost can give you 2 back to back turns...in a game where orders are also tied to boost...and you made it an equipable that can be used on every party member? What even is game balance
I'm loving the Calvard cast so much. And the Marchen Garden feels like a cheat code I love it. Just made it to Act 3 of Daybreak 2 *Spoilers*
Shizuna interrupts your mission, fights for the badguys, attempts to murder you, gets an amazing looking duel against Kasim, then goes "oh my contract is up" and gets your team to give her a ride back before joining the party. I love this character. She passed Judith as my favorite character in Calvard
And I initially felt the Garden was lackluster compared to the Reverie corridor, until I realized just how much sepith the mystic cube gives you after a run. I've never been this rich in a trails game before, never have to worry about cash and can do quick easy runs to upgrade orbments whenever I need. With Daybreak's combat system I can just ignore big monsters and quickly take down little ones. This is great.
I did not expect to get a whole story arc concluding Renne's days in Paradise. Wow. Though it feels like the details always change a bit every time they revisit it. In 3rd it was clear the kids weren't real and was just Renne coping with the hell she was going through, especially with the names of the kids
But then a later game (was it a CS game? I can't remember) said the kids were real. But now Daybreak 2 says the kids were real and Renne absorbed their personalities, basically making both true. It slightly lightens it but it's still horrific
I just finished Daybreak and will probably jump into Daybreak 2, some questions and comments
What exactly carries over into Daybreak 2? Is it just carry over rewards or do decisions from DB1 factor in DB2? Like I chose to kill every Almata member, does that matter? If it's just sepith and accessories then I probably won't do a NG+ unless they're really good
Story wise Daybreak was by far the most eventful "1st" game in the series. I didn't expect so much of the previous lore and organizations to show up, usually they save that for the 2nd game, but wow they went all in here. The big reveal with Van being similar to McBurn was a big twist I wasn't expecting, and tying all this in with the cult was a great hook. Renne's scene where she relapsed for a bit was heartbreaking
I love how the party treating Almata character's tragic backstories. It's like yeah but you're still a mass murderer so screw you
Also I liked how the protagonist knows more than the player this time, and he's the one showing us his world. Also liked how he's older than the teens this time. It's not quite the older party like Crossbell gave us, but playing as the mentor to the teens was cool. Didn't expect the ending to be so grand and have all those crazy stakes either
It's nice to be back to the combat from 1st remake again. And while I initially complained about the Orbment setup and UI, once I figured it out it became the simplest the series ever had. I hope they add more meat to it in DB2 and Horizon because it's a bit TOO simple and free, which is crazy because I thought it couldn't get simplier than CS.
And now I'm getting sad. Only 2 games left and I'm caught up, having to wait with everyone else 😭
The chapter 3 intro was a solid reference *Spoilers*
The way Fie showed up was almost beat for beat with how Estelle and Joshua were revealed way back in Zero. I just started Chapter 3 and was surprised at how many cutscenes and familiar faces started popping up, never gets old seeing a character return, especially after a time skip
