Questions about captive starlings

Hi all, I recently started volunteering at a Wildlife Rescue. They have an adult starling who cannot be released as he has deformed feet so he will live out his days there. His beak is getting overgrown and he has no toys. I don''t know anything about starling behavior/needs, but I have kept cockatiels for almost 30 years (I am not sure how much that helps lol)).

Is there any sort of mineral block or cuttlebone I can place in his cage to get him to trim down his own beak, and any toys he might like to entertain himself? He is feral so cannot interact with him.

I have a lot of natural shredding toys for my own bird, would be fine giving up a few for the starling and I also have extra cuttlebones but am not sure if he would like it/would be safe for this kind of bird. Anything else I can do to make the starling's life a little more fun, or anything else i should know? Thanks!

Looking for a new feeder that Mourning Doves can't land on

My current feeder is like the one in the pic but the doves figured out how to land on that narrow little platform. Surprisingly the mourning doves are the aggressors in my yard. We have grackles but they allow other birds to eat alongside them, the mourning doves do NOT. A poor little chipping sparrow entered my yard for the first time and got karate chopped by a dove wing. It never came back. I love these potatoes but have had it with their behavior, they are bullies and empty my feeder in 2 seconds. They can go back to eating off the ground!

I'm looking for a feeder that can be hung from an 8 ft shepherds hook with a cone baffle (a shorter feeder is better than a taller one). My regulars besides the doves and grackles are house finches, cardinals, downy and red bellied woodpeckers, wb nuthatch, goldfinches, and an occasional blue jay. Any suggestions? Maybe a clinging-only feeder? This was my first feeder so im not sure what else is out there..thanks!

How to trap and dispatch groundhog?

It moved into my yard and broke into one of my fenced garden beds. I can't take it anymore. My local licensed trapper quoted me $700 to get rid of it, it's just too much. I live next to a school deep in suburbia so even if I owned a gun I wouldn't be able to shoot it. I'm at a loss. Relocating wildlife is illegal here so I think I'd have to kill it, but I don't want to do anything that could risk harming the wild birds in any way. Any suggestions?

This is one of the Purple Dream superhots I've been keeping at my office for warmth (house is very cold). This cultivar is meant to have very dark green to almost black leaves, but it did not get sufficient light for that in the office. Now that it's home and started hardening off we can see the color starting to show. There has even been more progress since I took this pic earlier today. I can't wait to see the final transformation!

First pic is a pepper that was grown in my cold 59F house. The second is a pepper that was taken to my 70-80F office building for about a month or so. Both sown and sprouted at the same time. Half my peppers stayed home, other half in office. These are average examples of each. 7 varieties of pepper, ~30 plants total.

Home plant had decent grow light, was fed half strength fish emulsion multiple times, and in the past few weeks has been spending days outside with real sun (when temps are above 59F). Office plant was never fed and had sun through a window a few hours a day, no grow light.

They are two different varieties but the difference is clear. Grow tents for me next time! Keep that heat in!

These 2 choc sprinkles plants have developed strange bumps/weak areas on their leaves. Their lower branches are dying/shrivelled up and some of the upper leaves are starting to shrivel at the edges too. They are living in my office and no bugs/pests here that i can see...any idea whats happening? The other tomato varieties are perfectly healthy. Thanks!

Location is indoors in NY (sub rules asked me to include it)
