I don’t travel long distance often but I decided to splurge on a trip from Detroit to London and experience Delta One. There was a connection in Boston. The flight to Boston kept getting delayed, then was ultimately canceled. The best they could do was get me a flight to Minneapolis then Premium Select to Heathrow. They said I’d have to call and see about getting anything refunded when my trip was complete. I’m so frustrated, this was such a huge, special part of this trip that I was so looking forward to.

Well, I get to Minneapolis and ask about standby upgrade back to Delta One. And they immediately do it!! For half an hour, I could finally calm down and relax. Then just as they start boarding, they switched me back to Premium Select. No real explanation, just that someone showed up.

Maybe it’s just the expectations I’ve had for months, but Premium Select is garbage!! The seats are narrower than domestic first class, the recline and footrest are jokes. This seat is hard af! I am so so uncomfortable, and I can’t sleep at all. My entire first day in London is ruined, which messes up the rest of the trip because to have to reorganize everything. And I’m already so tired, there’s no way I’ll be up to anything.

Is there any way to get more out of Delta for this crap? Obviously I want a decent chunk of my money back, but I feel like I deserve something more for getting jerked around and having a chunk of my trip ruined.
