Best Pat Metheny concert in years
Last Monday I attended Pat’s concert in Paris, and honestly it was the best I’ve seen from him in years (and I’ve seen him maybe seven or eight times over the last fifteen years).
It seems he’s really found a group he clicks with, and even if we all know that Chris Fishman is no Lyle Mays (nobody is, or ever will be, the new Lyle Mays), he and the other musicians in the band (Joe Dyson on drums, Jermaine Paul on bass, and Leonard Patton on vocals) have managed to build a real chemistry with Pat and bring great energy.
The presence of Leonard Patton as a vocalist and percussionist really gives Pedro Aznar vibes, and they played a lot of older songs I thought I’d never hear live, like Song for Bilbao, First Circle, among others.
I’m really glad I went and I’m curious to know if others have had the same feeling during this Side Eye III+ tour?
