GW Practice - Knighting

GW Practice - Knighting

(featuring the GW Fortune-Telling Cards)

the sitter is seeking advice on a problem.

Bride knighting Rod and Book

knighting is a technique that allows a reader to make additional combinations with a primary card.

note on Bride: "The Bride insures for a single person the fulfillment of their highest aims..."

interpretation: >!the sitter is committed to investigating the mystery.!<

how would you read this knighted combination? what other information might be suggested?

u/Objective_Put_7283 — 3 days ago

GW Practice - The Bride

I asked my cards to tell me more about the Bride card from the GW deck.

my interpretation: >!Bride exists in a state of perpetual disappointment, but that seems to be what fuels her; she is recognized for her strength and ambition, especially when in positions of leadership.!<

I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this pull - maybe I just got lucky 😅 this is pretty well-aligned with the niche I am thinking Bride will fill for the deck. I haven't had many pulls with that card though, so I'm still open minded.

what are your thoughts?

GW Practice Reading - Work

a lady is feeling burnt out at work and wants to know her fortune around looking for a new job.

my interpretation: >!because of the presence of so many positive and relevant cards, I think she would be successful in this venture.!<

how would you interpret this spread? what would you tell the lady about her fortune? what additional information can be shared with her?

note: there are various lines and combinations to explore with this spread. because this is a discussion post, I want to leave the micro-interpretations as discussion points for others to explore in the comment section.

interpretation notes from the comment section:

  • Bouquet as final card reads as an "offer"
  • abundance of red cards and positive cards
  • GW House indicates "success in all ventures"
u/Objective_Put_7283 — 5 days ago

3-Card Practice

(featuring the GW Fortune-Telling Cards)

I've placed two face-down cards to form a cross shape, which positions House as the central "topic" card.

Hand-in-Hand - House - Children

my interpretation: >!the home life is pleasant!<

interpretation notes:

  • the central card, House, is the topic card
  • Hand-in-Hand and Children are "near" the topic card

"near" and "far" describe the proximity of any two cards, and proximity is central to the Method of Distance (MoD) from the German school of Lenormand.

many cards in the GW deck feature rules regarding proximity, and it is a great deck for practicing MoD.

  • Children is "mirroring" Hand-in-Hand

"mirroring" is one common technique for forming a card combination. cards that form a mirrored combination should relate to one another - e.g.: the "greeting" (HIH) should be "friendly" (Children); the "children" (Children) should be "polite" (HIH).

how would you interpret this? what additional information could one pull from these three cards? what if this was to be read as a traditional 3-card line?

GW Love Reading

A lady asks when she can expect a love relationship to come her way.

Anchor - Dog - Lion - Flames - Bouquet

some notes on the extra cards:

"The Lion foretells a sudden shock from bad news."

"The Flames indicates good fortune and neutralizes the evil of near lying unlucky cards and increases the value of lucky ones."

I can't wait to read your interpretations below!

possible interpretation: >!the faithful lady has recently been betrayed by a real asshole, but that doesn't prevent her from seeking love. she is likely to begin dating again very soon.!<

interpretation notes:

  • Lion can indicate the presence of a toxic man
  • Flames neutralizes Lion and intensifies Bouquet
  • all red suits points to a positive answer

With the Tower it means ‘big brother’ is watching.

GW Extra Cards - The Money Safe 🏦

from 'GW Fortune-Telling Cards' (1903)

#No. 48 - The Money Safe - 3 of Diamonds

The Money Safe indicates riches; if shut side is toward the Person, it denotes loss by speculation.

from 'Valmor Fortune-Telling Cards' (1920s-1930s)

#No. 7 - The Safe - 8 of Clubs

Shows a person to be covetous and extremely fond of money; that he will cbtain it, but that it will rather prove more of a torment than a comfort to him, as he will not make proper use of it.

from 'Maybe Lenormand' by Ryan Edward (2019)

#CARD 52 - SAFE: CASH - 4 OF DIAMONDS

While the Fish may be your affluence and the Bear your financial stability, the Safe represents your actual funds.

The open side of the safe is vulnerable. Positive cards here may hint at incoming cash, but negative cards, especially the Mice or Coffin will deplete it.

The closed side is more secure. If this points towards the person, finances should prosper. (note: that instruction regarding the closed side of the safe is inconsistent with the other texts.)

This card describes a person tied to money: a stock broker, an heiress or a bank teller. They are likely great with numbers and the bottom line. They may dress expensively, but not extravagantly.

Keywords: Money, Account, Safe, Financial, Square, Expensive

from 'Reading Fortune-Telling Cards' by Vinago (2021)

  • Card 48: The Money Safe
  • Playing Card: Three of Diamonds
  • Keywords: Money, Wealth

"The Money Safe" shows money and wealth, and by extension everything that is important for you to live a rich life.

If the closed door is facing the person card, there is a loss of money due to speculation (or institutions pulling back, rejection of certain subsidies, repayments of loans, etc.).

With the open side of "The Money Safe" toward the person card, you can expect profits that are entirely favorable. Here too, we examine the cards surrounding "The Money Safe." When the closed door of "The Money Safe" is near "The Amor" card, it means that it's not wise to continue to support your partner financially.

#COMBINATIONS WITH THE MONEY SAFE:

Pay attention to the placement of the open and closed side of the safe. (note: because each example opens with Safe, we are working with a closed Safe.)

  • Safe + Rod: >!financial struggle!<

  • Safe + Scythe: >!financial loss!<

  • Safe + Tower: >!blockage with regards to finances!<

  • Safe + Coffin + Mice: >!loss of money, payment of fines!<
