A few planning questions

We'll be travelling through the Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Craters of the Moon in late July/early August. We've planned extensively, but I have a few questions I couldn't find answered on the interwebs re: Yellowstone.

  1. We're staying at the Grant Village Campground for two nights - is there a walking path from the campground to West Thumb Basin, or do we have to drive? Would really like to be able to just walk over.

  2. For food options at Grant Village, is there a Grill at the General Store? Or are the only options the dining room and the Lake restaurant? We're eating at camp a lot but want to break it up with a few dining meals throughout our trip. What are the menus at the dining room and the lake restaurant? (I haven't heard good things about dining in the park).

  3. We plan to spend an early morning at Old Faithful & Upper Geyser Basin, after that what would be the best plan for hike/geyser viewing: 1) Lower Geyser Basin 2) Grand Prismatic Overlook & Fairy Falls 3) Mystic Falls 4) Lone Geyser. This includes how difficult will driving to the location and parking availability be in the middle of the day.

Thank you!

Question re: entering the park

Hi, we'll be coming to Grand Teton via Twin Falls on a Sunday end of July, and I need advice on entering the park. We're staying in the park for 2 nights at Signal Mountain Campground, but first we need to get into the park, and with the drive from Twin Falls we can't arrive super early morning. I was hoping to do a Taggart Lake hike on our first day in as well.

So, should we attempt the Moose entrance, or go around through the Granite Canyon entrance to avoid crowds? We'd likely be arriving somewhere between 12-2 pm - will the Moose entrance crowds have diminished by then? Thank you!

Advice for west side hikes/boating

Hi, looking for some advice for west side activities for a family. We (mom, dad, kids 7 & 10 yo) will be camping at Avalanche for 2 nights, and I wasn't able to get tickets for the Logan Pass shuttle for the full day we have between Avalanche nights. I did manage to get them for the next day when we will be leaving the park for Flathead so time will be limited, but that's beside the point. (and yes we need shuttle tickets because we're in a campervan).

I need recommendations for things to do around the Apgar/Lake McDonald/Avalanche area. We'll likely do Avalanche Lake/Trail of Cedars on our way in, so I was thinking about kayaking/paddleboarding Lake McDonald? Since we won't have time to kayak Flathead Lake after doing Logan Pass on the way out. How is Lake Mcdonald boating vs Flathead? Or any good hikes around the lake? We're a very active family, kids regularly do 5-7 mile hikes and they like water sports.

We will be coming from the east side and will have already done activities over there. And at Logan Pass we're thinking of doing Hidden Lake.

Thank you!

(And I'm in this predicament because Logan Pass shuttle tickets went within seconds, ugh).
