I’m not a photographer by any means. I use my cell phones for all my photos. Seeing all the beautiful pictures I’ve been seeing here since I started following for my upcoming trip late September I was wondering if anyone else just uses their phone?
Hello,
I have been tasked with planning a family trip (12 people, 4 are children) with a trip to Yellowstone. Where do I begin? Any things we must include or skip? I was looking at flying in to west Yellowstone airport and we’d like to stay in Yellowstone.
Open to all advice! Especially for bringing little ones.
Thanks!
Edited to add:
Ideally going in 2027.
Also I have seen a few air b&bs, a few luxe, that seem perfect.
i’m staying in Idaho Falls Idaho. I wanna do one day at Yellowstone as well as one day in Grand Tenton. I’m solo traveling, I did get a rental car, but I’m not sure if it would be better in spot for me to book one of the trips I find online and go with them. I fly into Idaho next Sunday so I would prefer to book something now I know I’m still kind of leaving it all to the last minute. I guess I’m wondering is it better for me to get a day pass and go book with a group or wait until I fly to Idaho and see if there’s better/cheaper options? any recommendations for places to book through i’ll take as well
Spotted around 5 PM near the beginning of Slough Creek Rd! Not only is this relationship kind of rare, the timing was too considering it was quite warm out. Not captured is them successfully catching a ground squirrel!
Badgers and coyotes form a highly successful hunting relationship to catch burrowing prey! The coyote’s speed traps the fleeing animal on the surface while the badger digs them out. This increases their hunting success by 34%! While the partnership is mostly for their convenience, I’d like to think of them as best buds.
Had a wonderful trip to YSNP & GTNP this last week. Here are two of the highlights. The Bears were seen along the Madison River road. And the Auroras with STEVE were seen from Driggs ID.
Is there any way to get from Gardiner to the Mammoth clinic in Yellowstone without having a car? Can the park rangers help with this and is it likely to be treated like an ambulance by insurance if they do? Or is there a car service/taxi service i could call?
My family and I will be visiting Cody/Heart Mountain, WY in August and we'll have one full day to take advantage of visiting Yellowstone.
A part of me wants to save some money and drive to Yellowstone myself, but another part of me would love a professional guide to make sure we're getting the most out of our time.
As I weigh my options, does anyone have Yellowstone tour recos? Specifically, any that leave from Cody? Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
I'm planning a trip to Yellowstone this August in an RV. My main goal is to see Old Faithful and explore some of the other must-see spots in the park.
One thing I'm not sure about is where I can park the RV overnight. Are there designated RV campgrounds inside or near the park that I should reserve in advance? If so, which ones would you recommend?
Also, if you have any suggestions for the best places to visit or any tips for an August RV trip to Yellowstone, I'd really appreciate them.
Thanks!
Hello y'all,
I'm going to camp 5 nights at yellowstone for the first time in august with my girlfriend. The first three nights were at the Madison, and then 2 nights at Bridge bay campground. I appreciate your suggestions for the places we must see there. Thanks.
Spent six days in the park last week; three at Old Faithful, three in Roosevelt. Lots of great wildlife sightings along the way, particularly in Hayden Valley and Lamar Valley. Spotted a few black bears, two grizzlies, elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, osprey, and, of course, lots and lots of bison. Edit: also marmots!
I don’t think I have ever been so cold for so long. Camped in the Lamar Valley for 4 nights for a chance to see some wildlife. Managed to get some (bad) pictures of a bobcat and a bunch of Bison. Still no wolves, though. Guess I’m coming back next year.
I was worried about the weather on Monday and Tuesday but I'm so glad I stuck it out!
Planning a weekday trip to Yellowstone soon (hoping the crowds are more manageable!) and since I work remotely, I thought I could balance some work time with exploring the park.
I know cell/WiFi coverage inside the park is pretty limited. I've been looking into alternatives like Starlink Roam — has anyone used it here? Any other options that actually worked for you?
Also curious:
- Which areas of the park had the best cell signal in your experience?
- Any lodges with decent enough WiFi for video calls?
- Would you even recommend attempting to work remotely from here, or is it better to just go fully offline?
Appreciate any real-world tips from folks who've been there! 🏔️
Captured this photo on my camera in Lamar Valley around 5:30AM yesterday. Blurry bc this is a pic of the camera screen. Given its sheer size, color, visible bump, and gait (wobbly looking), the ~ 8 people who saw this all went with grizzly. Hopefully we were right ???
EDIT: Thanks for all the comments! So happy to hear the consensus it was a grizzly! We ended up seeing 2 more grizzlies over the next two days, including one eating a bison in Lamar Valley! 9 bears in total!
I will be visiting Yellowstone in about a month with my family. Staying three nights in Madison campground and three nights in Grant. I’d like to fly fish for a day but I’m not sure if should hire a guide or not. I am an experienced fly fisherman but not with big rivers. I can hike well and considered hiking into slough creek on my own (yes aware this is bear country). The other issue is I don’t want to take the car from my family for the day. They would have to drop me off. Will a guide pick me up?
Recommendations on locations and guides would be great!
7/29, 625am, the only car in the parking lot, stood in the snow for about 20 minutes watching the falls, just us! Really special moment for the fam.
How’s the grand prismatic steaming in the mornings at like 7-8am in mid July especially with the heat right now?
Considering whether to hit it early in the day or come circle back mid day and try to deal with traffic and parking to see it in its peak
I'm going to visit Yellowstone in a week with the family. How long are the lines to enter the park these days (from West Yellowstone) and how bad is the parking and traffic?
