Never enjoyed sex

I (66M) am in a fairly new (3 months) relationship with a woman (72F). We seem to be compatible in so many ways, including, but not limited to, in bed. Last night, we were enjoying each other and after we finished, we were talking and, kind of out of nowhere, she said, "You know, I've never really enjoyed sex."

I was a bit taken aback, because I thought she was enjoying it. I asked her to clarify and she said that she was enjoying sex with me, but she was surprised because it is the first time in her life that she's enjoyed it. She said that she felt that sex was a way to get close to her partner and solidify the relationship, but that she has never in her life enjoyed it until now.

I'm not saying that this is because of me. I'm probably just average in bed. She's been widowed for 12 years and then went through the deaths of her brother, mother and brother-in-law in successive years during the pandemic. So she has not dated at all since her husband died.

I just think it's sad that a 72 year old woman has never enjoyed sex until now. We laughed because I said, "What if someone told you, when you were in your 20's or 30's that you would have the best sex of your life after you turned 70? You probably wouldn't believe them."

Yellowstone and electric vehicles

I've been to Yellowstone dozens of times, BUT, I was having a discussion about buying an electric vehicle vs hybrid yesterday. And, it made me think, "As a gas guzzler driver, I've never noticed any electric vehicle charging stations in or around Yellowstone." I'd be shocked if there were chargers inside the park, but maybe Gardiner? West Yellowstone?

I pulled up one map of charging stations online and it looks like the closest charging stations are Idaho Falls and somewhere west of Bozeman. WTF? Really. Then, I pulled up another map and it showed charging stations at Lake Yellowstone, Old Faithful, Canyon, Mammoth and Gardiner. That seems more reasonable. Maybe the first map is just out of date?

My question is, has anyone in the group ACTUALLY spent a week in Yellowstone in an all-electric vehicle?

I usually spend a week when I go and on the last trip, I put almost 2,000 miles on my car. So, I'm interested to know if I could realisitcally drive an e-vehicle to and in Yellowstone. (I'm not worried about getting there - just about staying inside the park (and in gateway cities) for a week.)

"We went on one date two years ago."

Sorry for how long this is. TL;DR I ran into a woman who said we had gone on one date and I never asked her out again, but I found out she is the one that blew me off.

Now, to the long version. There's no question here, just story time, so sit back and enjoy.

I'm in a meetup group that I've attended for several years. We do a few other things, but the main event is once a month we meet in a brewery for drinks and to just hang out and talk. This is not a dating group, although I've dated a couple of women from the group. Tonight, I went and sat on one end of the row of tables. I got my drink, ate my burger (because I hadn't eaten all day) and talked to my friends at that end of the row.

A bit more than an hour later, I wanted to talk to someone else that was almost at the far other end of the row. So, I went over there, I pulled a chair from another table and sat down next to my friend Liz, who slid her chair out and turned to talk to me. It's hard to explain, but that put me kind of behind the woman who had been sitting next to Liz, but was at that point in time talking to someone across the table from her.

I'd been talking to Liz for a few minutes and the woman that had been sitting next to Liz (before Liz slid her chair out to talk to me) reached back and punched me on the arm. I turned and she said, "Are you a photographer?" I said, "Yes." She said, "I thought so. We went on one date about two years ago."

Now, I took a better look at her and thought that she looked familiar, but I couldn't place her. I said something like, "Why didn't we have a second date." She said, "I don't know. I guess you didn't like me."

Well, at this point I'm super embarassed and asked her name, which she was being coy about and wouldn't tell me for several minutes. Anyway, I kind of wrote it off, but it continued to bug me. (And Liz gave me shit about it.)

Well, I'm an anal former computer programmer and I don't have a super great memory for names and details about a person. So, I have a little file on my computer with the names of the women I've dated. When I got home I looked her up in my file and found her. I had a couple of notes -- what OLD we had met on, where she had lived, the fact that she'd been widowed for less than 2 years, etc. Then, this.

Got this message on Zoosk:
Hey XXXX, Sorry about the late response. I just got home from a girl friends. I have my 2 grandsons all day tomorrow while my son and his wife go skiing so that won't work.
I'm trying to figure out if I'd be wasting your time getting together again. I can't seem to get my head on straight and know what I want. I think I should cool it for a bit.

I sent her a reply and said, ok, just let me know if you change your mind, and I never got an answer to that.

So, I didn't blow her off or ghost her. She just didn't feel ready to date, and I don't blame her. Dating after the death of a spouse must be hard. But, tonight, in front of a bunch of mutual friends, she implied that it was my fault.

Dating in our 60's is just so f-ing weird.

To be loved is to be seen.

There's a quote attributed to Peyton Corrine, "To be loved is to be seen." I saw something months ago that this is why we need partnership. It kind of stuck with me, but I couldn't quite figure it out.

I went through an emotionally stressful breakup earlier this year. I've started doing some dating, but still on 1st and 2nd dates. The past week, I've had several days when I come home and think, "So many things happened today that I want to tell someone."

Yes, I have kids, but they are so involved in their own lives that they aren't always interested in dad. There's just something about having a partner to share life's ups and downs. And, yes, I've had long spells between having a partner, but there's something different this time. Maybe it is because the woman I broke up with was a very close friend for 3.5 years before we even started dating. So, she was the one that was "seeing" me for so long. Yesterday, there were so many times when I thought, "I should tell D what I just saw" then I remembered that we are in a no contact period. (We may eventually be friends again, but we are not talking, not following each other on social media, etc. Long story, but it is for the best.)

I'm not sure where this is going and I don't *need* responses, but this was so strong this past week that I had to say something.

Weird things in OLD this week.

I'm back on the dating apps again -- lonely, bored frustrated..... I'm on OurTime and Facebook Dating and I've noticed two things. (Im 66M)

First, on OurTime, I've gotten multiple notifications that So-and-So, likes your profile. I click the link and her profile is "not available." So, that either means their profile is hidden (but then why send me a "like"?) or that they've left the platform. The first time, it was like, OK. But, now it has been 4-5 different women in a bit over a week.

Second thing, I've seen several profiles where every photo is a group photo. So, I feel like I'm a detective, looking at all the group photos and trying to figure out which woman is the same in each. That's complicated by things like hats, sunglasses, etc. I promise to not post photos of me with a fish (because I haven't been fishing in over 40 years) if you promise to post a photo of your face that's clear enough that I can pick you out at the coffee shop when we meet.

Or maybe I'm just an old man yelling at clouds!
