Do I really fit an IBS diagnosis?
hi this is my first time ever using Reddit so if I’m doing something wrong or break rules I’m sorry lmk and I’ll delete the post, I just needed some place to ask some questions and be a little anonymous while doing so.
I’ve have been having Gi issues for my whole life but it has always been manageable up until around late July which I have begun to have the most debilitating symptoms. we had always assumed I had IBS but after this we began thinking otherwise because I have been having blood daily and occasionally blood clots in my stool, and in 4-5 weeks I have managed to unintentionally lose almost 10 pounds. I also began having episodes of cyclic vomiting. ( also just to mention, tmi, but I‘m having CHRONIC diarrhea 4+ a day w/ atleast one being bloody) I got hospitalized on the 2 through the 3rd of August because of this. My body became so dehydrated because it was just unable to keep up with the chronic diarrhea. we did a bunch of test (blood, stool samples, colonoscopy +endoscopy, and biopsies) and they ALL were clean. I went today and all they told me was this was IBS most likely set off by something like a cold or flu despite the fact that before they were adamant that my symptoms “didn’t match“and were “escalating“
I just wanted to ask if people may have had similar experiences when getting a diagnosis and that this isn’t uncommon because right now I’m just feeling like they wrote me off as a person with IBS because they didn’t have a clear direction to go in. i Get why I’m losing weight because of how I’m unable to eat without lots and lots of pain/discomfort but it’s the blood I’m at a loss about bc I didn’t really get an explanation as to why it was there and from everything else I was told it’s not normal for IBS, is it normal for some people?
