It is true? A shtick? Muckrakers in media making shit up? I guess we’ll find out but until then I take these reports with a big grain of salt
If in fact the show is going to once a week, I can’t figure out why they couldn’t do the show with a staff of 10-15. Other very successful podcasts do this. Assuming lots of celebrity interviews and leaning into fans calls (Marianne, Jill, Bobo etc), the fact that they still have ~50 on staff is mind-boggling. There is simply not enough airtime for bits anymore.

Who is most vulnerable after Howard finally quits and who is most setup for success*?
Most vulnerable: Sal - he has said too much to be hirable outside of entertainment and can’t carry a carry on his own
Most set-up: aside from Gary who can prolly retire, I’m gonna go with Will. He’s down below the radar and has managed writers. He could find something in entertainment.
* I think Jimmy Kimmel (et all) could take on some of Howard’s crew as charity cases - but not considering that.
I assume at the end of his career, Howard will rip off his mask and expose himself as the king of the Wack Pack. Examples:
- in therapy multiple times a week? If a therapist can’t fix you in 30 years they either suck or you are using it as a crutch
- wears a condom with his wife???
- a virtual recluse
- OCD as fuck
- insanely insecure about fame and wealth
- buys special boots so he doesn’t get bitten by snakes
- seeming compulsion to have Mariann, Jill, and or Bobo on every show
- needs to be in bed by 8
- fixates on hobbies: guitar, painting, photography, chess at the expense of being social
I mean we are all effed up but Howard is a complete mess.
It’s clear Scott wants to build a podcast empire to sell, and flooding the zone with new shows is his strategy but is anyone else burnt out?
