Do people restart new extracurriculars for transfer applications? I am applying to a completely different major than what I apply to originally at my school and I was wondering if it’s still worth it to try to transfer out my first year if I’m going to have to restart extracurriculars completely. Do most people restart extracurriculars are use the same ones from high school.
I also don’t know if I should apply in fall 2026 or try to get into Penn and Duke spring 2027 and TED 2027 fall if I don’t get in. My main reason for transferring is my school only has a business major and ion want that

Hi! I’m very interested in statistical and public policy research and I want to get a paper published. Because I do not require a lab or anything, do I need to have a proper internship? Or can I just do it independently and have a professor look over it and mentor me a bit? Any prior experiences or advice would be much appreciated!!
