Not sure if this is the right sub for this, so please point me in the right direction if it’s not. I am reading Girl, Interrupted, and I came across the phrase “basement-colored person”. I try to find the meanings and definitions of words/phrases I don’t recognize so that I can learn and expand my vocabulary/understanding, but I haven’t been able to find anything online that recognizes this phrase.

The line for context:

“You’re living at One fifteen Mill Street?” asked a small, basement-colored person who ran a sewing-notions shop in Harvard Square, where I was trying to get a job.

just about the entire day, i have not been able to open the game. i left it for hours thinking it was a bug or update, but nothing has changed. i’ve just deleted it and redownloaded and still nothing. what can i do? i’ve seen two others post about this today, but haven’t seen anything else.

edit: i think i finally found the issue!!! game center on iOS is not loading or working. other apple users have made posts with the same issue. if anyone else is having trouble and you use apple devices, check your game center!

i have a really bad habit of always keeping one of each item (if i can) and not doing anything with it unless i need it for a goal or task of some sort. the problem is that my barn cannot handle my stock. are there any items that anyone always makes to order? what can i avoid making until i need it? i’m level 39, for an idea of what i can make atm. my ice cream machine isn’t done yet and i don’t have any bee/honey production.

hello all! me and my boyfriend are moving, and we want to buy a queen size mattress. he doesn’t have a preference on the firmness, but i’m hoping for something a bit softer. i saw the guide, and i definitely understand that there’s no one size fits all, but i’m hoping a few people here will have starting points for me to start searching. there’s an overwhelming amount of mattress companies haha. our budget is $1,000 or less. we won’t be using a box spring, if that matters.
