Unaccompanied Children

First time today at a new to me parkrun. Lots of track and trail and pretty easy to go off course at several points. From about 2km in I saw a young kid running alone. I thought a parent was about 15m away but the parent didn’t seem that interested in the kid. Realised it wasn’t that adults kid. Then at about the 4km mark we start passing spectators, Marshalls etc and it makes it look like the kid belongs to me and I’m ignoring them.

Turns out that one parent was running with two kids significantly under 11, and just left one to fend for themselves. I saw the kid almost get lost on two occasions. Parents, why?!

A first comment

I’ve had people tell me I’ve lost weight, I’ve told people I’m on MJ, but today I had my first “you’re not on the jabs are you?”. “Yeah I am”. I found it quite funny, because it was somewhere I’ve only been going for the past 6 months, and I’ve only lost about 7kg in that time. So she was saying “why are you taking them, you don’t need the jabs”, when she has no idea that I was 35kg heavier at my heaviest.

Well it at least ruined my ‘this is the only place where people don’t know I was fat’ thing that I had going on there 😂

UK: Low mileage on ads?

Hello,
I keep seeing adverts for horses where they are being described as “low mileage”. I don’t understand the benefit of a horse being considered low mileage. Can anyone help me understand?
Obviously, I can see how a tonne of high intensity work may lead to wear and tear and injury risk, but surely there is as much injury risk with an under worked horse.
I’d love to know why “low mileage” is co soldered a selling point of a horse. A horse is not a car!
Thank you!

Foot up on the dash…

I was driving down the M1 today and saw someone with their right foot up on the dash. The person I saw was the driver. The driver had their right foot on the dash. Who the hell thinks that is a good idea?!

Florida suggestions

Right, friends, I’m looking for some help.
Have to go to Florida. Will probably do the Orlando parkrun the day after arriving before travelling to stay on Space Coast.
Will be free to leave on the Friday, but might extend the stay until the Sunday.
Will be flying out of Orlando, but, if you had the chance, where would you spend a couple of extra days in Florida? Jacksonville? Tampa? Somewhere else? If I’m staying longer would be nice to do a different parkrun than the Orlando one. But perhaps this is a ridiculous idea.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Parking rules - what would you do?

It’s a Sunday. It’s an event day. You are parking for an hour. What do you do based on this sign?

How do you eat yours? Chicken, not a crème egg!

Hello,
I am really skilled in one particular culinary genre….. the ‘shove it all the air fryer’ cuisine. But I’m a bit bored of my chicken options.
I love Greek lemon and oregano (https://www.dinneratthezoo.com/greek-lemon-chicken/) and enjoyed this lime and soy that I found today (https://www.recipetineats.com/lime-marinated-grilled-chicken/#jump-watch). I sometimes use one of the powder sachets from Aldi, or some fajita spices.

Has anyone got any recommendations for other options? Thank you :)

Space coast vacation

Hi there,
I will be travelling with family to the space coast on August. Our issue is that some of us will be staying a week, some just a few days. So it doesn’t make sense to get a house to accommodate all of us.
Are there any recommendations for places to stay where we could maybe get two homes on the same estate, or multiple apartments?
Thanks

Edit: we are not looking for hotels as we want the communal kitchen / living room aspect that you get with houses, villas etc

Aussie version of BtB?

Hello,
I seem to recall an episode where Robert was talking about other topics and podcasts. I think he referenced some Aussie podcasters who had a similar podcast, but I can’t find the episode where he mentioned them, or who it might be.
Does anyone recall or know who it might have been?
Or alternatively have any recommendations for podcasts? I feel like I’m scraping the barrel of podcasts right now.
Thank you ☺️

pr related Q - women’s shorts…

Hello, not a direct pr question but a related question which I’m sure some of you will have some sage advice to give.

I’ve spent my life covering up, but after losing some weight and giving less of a 💩about what other people think, I’m looking for some shorts for parkrunning in.

I’m 5’8ish, size 14-16, with long legs, so don’t want them to be too short. I also don’t want them to bunch up and disappear into…… I’m thinking that maybe the kind of leggings underneath with the looser over short things would be good. Does anyone have any reccs for long-ish, flattering shorts for tall, curvy-ish women?

Thanks ☺️

NSV - not quite a giraffe, maybe an okapi

I was at an event at the weekend, and had my photo taken a few times. And despite feeling like I haven’t lost much recently, my neck - I swear it’s about 5 inches longer. Not a giraffe, but maybe an okapi?

I feel like I’m such a slow loser. I started at the end of May last year. I’ve lost 18.5kg. An average of 0.4kg a week. But damn I’m down about two dress sizes. My face, neck, chest, legs have changes shape. I’m fitter. New people don’t see me as ‘fat’. The losses might be really slow on the scale, but every now and then something happens that makes me realise just how well I’m doing, even if comparatively, based on KG per week, I’m on the slow side. 🥳

Let’s raise a glass to rediscovering our necks, and collar bones, and the multiple strands of our leg muscles….., anything else? Or dare I ask, I know that some of the chaps also find some…. Length….. elsewhere 😂
