What small distractions mess with your swing the most?

I’m curious what little things throw people off during a round.

For me, it’s usually stuff I don’t notice until I’m actually over the ball — glove feeling weird, watch feeling bulky, sunglasses slipping, hat feeling off, shirt sleeve catching, or sweat getting annoying.

Do you have any small comfort/distraction things that mess with your setup or swing?

Do you fix it before hitting, or just try to ignore it?

Anyone else get picky about hats during a full round?

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’m starting to notice some hats feel fine at first and then start bothering me later in the round.

Structured caps or thicker brims can start feeling stiff or front-heavy, especially when it’s hot. But super lightweight hats can feel kind of flimsy when the wind picks up.

Do you guys care about hat weight at all, or is it mostly fit/breathability?

What kind of hat feels light enough to forget about, but still stays put?

What golf accessory placement drives you crazy?

Maybe I’m picky, but some golf accessories feel fine until I actually start swinging.

Anything on my glove hand seems like an instant no. Wrist stuff can be hit or miss. Hat clips are usually okay unless they make the brim feel weird.

What’s the one place you hate having extra gear while playing?

Glove? Wrist? Hat? Belt? Collar? Shoe? Or do you not care as long as it works?

Anyone else get annoyed by heavier golf hats?

Maybe this is just me, but I’ve started noticing that some golf hats feel fine at first and then weirdly annoying after a full round, especially when it’s hot out.

It’s not always the fabric either. Sometimes the hat just feels a little too structured or front-heavy, and by the back nine I want to take it off.

Do you guys care about hat weight at all, or is fit/breathability way more important?

Also, has anyone found a style of hat that feels light enough to forget you’re wearing it?

Do you usually play golf with a hat on, or no hat?

I realized I’ve always just assumed most golfers wear some kind of hat during a round.

Do you usually play with a cap/visor/bucket hat, or do you prefer no hat?

For those who don’t wear one, is it mostly comfort, heat, sunglasses, hair, or just personal preference?

What’s your go-to golf hat?

I need to retire one of my old caps and it got me wondering what people actually like wearing for a full round.

Do you usually go with a normal cap, visor, bucket hat, or no hat at all?

Comfort matters more to me than looks, especially when it’s hot.

Do you care more about exact pin distance or knowing where the trouble is?

I’ve noticed a lot of people use watches/apps/rangefinders in different ways. Some golfers seem to care most about exact pin yardage, while others mainly want to know where the bunkers, water, OB, or safe landing areas are. During a normal round, which one actually helps you more?

Which golf gadget was actually worth keeping in your routine?

I’m curious which golf gadgets people actually stick with after the first few rounds. Golf watch, rangefinder, phone app, Arccos, Shot Scope, launch monitor, GPS device, etc. What made it stay in your routine? Ease of use, accuracy, stats, convenience, or just not being annoying?

100 or 90?

Long time no see, folks.

Golf humbled me again recently. And I’m starting to think that breaking 100 or 90 doesn’t really come down to one perfect answer.

Instead of the usual textbook advice, I’m more curious about this:

What’s one thing you stopped doing that actually helped your scores drop?
