Visiting Greece in late Sept/early Oct (Sept 28 – Oct 4): Good for beaches & monuments? Warmest spots and transport advice needed

Hey everyone :)

I’m planning a short trip to Greece from September 28th to October 4th (about a week). My main goals for this trip are two things: exploring historical monuments/ancient ruins and enjoying some beach time.

Since it’s early autumn / tail-end of the season, I’d love some advice from locals and experienced travelers:

  1. Weather & Temperatures: What should I realistically expect in terms of daytime temperatures, rain chances, and sea temperature around this time? Is swimming still pleasant?
  2. Best & Warmest Destinations: Which cities, regions, or islands tend to stay the warmest and sunniest during late September/early October to soak up the last bits of summer?
  3. Getting Around: What is the most practical way to travel between these spots?
    • Would you recommend renting a car, using public transit (buses/trains), taking domestic flights, or taking ferries?

Any itinerary suggestions or general tips for traveling during this time of year are super welcome. Thanks in advance for the help!

Note: I'm from Brazil, so I'm more used to the heat than the cold.
