Any id on this caterpillar, been living in our Japanese maple leaf for last few days. Is this going to be his metamorphosis home? Leeds, West Yorkshire

Been letting this azalea grow out for the past month or so since buying it pre potted and wired (first picture), had a go at shaping and pruning new growth today. Anything I can do to improve? And should I keep the new branches at the bottom to help with thickening the trunk? Any tips/ advice would be greatly appreciated for this beginner at bonsai 🤣👍🏻
