$1M+ staffing biller, 7 years in, and I’m completely burnt out. How the hell do I get out?

Alright everyone, I need your help.

I’m trying to leave staffing SO BAD.

I’ve been in staffing sales for some time now. I’m a $1M+ biller in the life sciences staffing world, but my well has been running dry. Our recruiting team sucks, and 7 years into this industry, I’m tired of my success depending so heavily on someone else. Our product is a living object than can pick and choose what to do…

I’m tired of waking up on a Friday to find out 3 contractors were fired without warning for the dumbest shit in the world, and basically there goes an extra $3,400/month from my paycheck overnight.

I’m just so fed up with the motion. I’m fed up with selling a product where there’s really no differentiation beyond, “Can I get this person to like me more than the other sucker who calls them 5 minutes later?”

My suggestions for improving things seem to fall on deaf ears with leadership, so genuinely, I’m checked out.

I’ve been applying on the side to SaaS companies in Life Sciences, thinking that could be a natural transition since I already understand the buyers and industry. I’ve also been applying outside of Life Sciences because, at this point, I’m open. But for the life of me, I cannot even get a conversation with a recruiter!

I know how to sell myself. I know how to sell, period. I have zero doubts about that. I’ve built my own pipeline multiple times, broken into some of the hardest enterprise accounts…but I genuinely don’t know what I need to do differently just to get noticed and have a conversation. I’ve refined and improved my resume a million times as well, and still nothing.

So, if you’re a recruiter here looking for sales folks and open to even a proactive conversation, another sales rep who successfully escaped staffing, someone wanting to vent alongside me, or someone building out a team…I’m all ears.

What industries would you look at with my background? How did those of you who left staffing successfully reposition yourselves? Open to networking, advice, opportunities, whatever.

Cheers, and have a good weekend!
