Any pick up games around?
My son is 19 months old and has been experiencing what seems to be an allergic reaction this week and we can’t figure out what could be causing it. We haven’t offered him any new foods, or changed soaps, lotions or laundry detergent.
Info on our week so far
Saturday we had a plumber come to redo the caulk in our stand up shower so the old caulk was acid washed and new caulk was put in. Our son uses a mobile tub for baths
Sunday we went to an indoor water park and spent the night. All he ate that we didn’t bring from home were French fries. We came home Monday and he had a little bit of diarrhea 3 times and was back to normal bowel movements Tuesday. I assumed diarrhea was from possibly swallowing a little bit of water from the water park.
Tuesday day was normal and he had a bath and went to bed at normal time. He was a little restless going to sleep and woke up about an hour and a half later upset. I tried consoling him but when that didn’t work, I figured maybe he needed some Tylenol as he’s been teething so I brought him into the kitchen when I noticed one of his eye lids was pretty swollen. Took him to the er out of caution as we’ve never dealt with allergies before. In the time, waiting to be seen the swelling went down and there were no hives on his body. No obvious bug bites and nothing in the eye when inspected so we were sent home. I gave him Benadryl just in case when we go home and by the morning his eye looked normal.
Wednesday day was normal. Nothing noticeable on his body and he had another bath before bed. He went down no problem but when he woke up in the morning his eyes, lips, feet and hands were all swollen, body mostly covered in hives. We took him to his pediatrician and they said to give him Zyrtec daily and prescribed an EpiPen just in case. Everyone is perplexed on what might be causing these symptoms. His heart, blood pressure and lungs all looked good, no fevers.
This morning when he woke up, his face was covered in hives/rashes. His body is absolutely covered. Seemly the hives are worse on the heat zones of his body. But no swelling today.
We kept him out of the bathroom yesterday and kept the door closed just in case something with the acid wash could be the cause but we’re not convinced of anything just yet. During the day, the hives seem to get better but overnight he gets triggered again. I’ve changed his sheets, checked for bugs/spiders. It’s hot but we have central air and his room is comfortable. He does have sensitive skin in general.
Any thoughts/ideas appreciated
Just generally curious, my old building had a “No Smoking within 50 feet” policy but my new building has no such policy and we have two people that smoke directly on the dock so multiple times a day you have to walk throw their cloud of smoke. I’m pregnant and hoping to get this changed but curious what other USPS building policies are
