Best free EV betting tool: the 8 things I'd check before trusting one, and the one we built
I'm not going to tell you ours is the best. We built it, so I'm biased. Here's the list I check any +EV tool against. Each item is a mistake we made building ours.
- Does it show the fair line and the math behind it, on the row? If the EV number appears with no fair price next to it, you're betting blindly.
- Does it devig with more than one method and show where they disagree? Power, Shin, multiplicative and worst-case split hardest on longshots. A tool that uses one method and hides the spread is overstating edge on exactly the bets that look juiciest.
- Does the fair come from sharp books, or from a crowd of soft books agreeing with each other? Three recreational books copying one another is one opinion, not three.
- Does it know how old the price is, not how old its read is? One book's public endpoint is cached for 15 minutes. A tool can fetch it every second and still be pricing a line nobody can bet. That one put fake rows at 60 percent EV on our board before we caught it.
- On exchanges, does it net the fee? A price on Novig, ProphetX or Kalshi that beats fair by 2 percent before the fee can be negative after it.
- Does it keep a record it can't edit, with the losses showing? Not a highlight reel. Every flagged row, logged by a machine, graded against the close.
- Can you change the settings? The tools I used before locked the filters. If you can't pick your books, your devig method or your EV floor, you can't test anything. You're betting someone else's opinion.
- What does it cost, and what does it sell? If it takes a card, holds money, or sells picks, the edge it shows you is not its only product.
The one we built against that list is OddsFloor. It reads 55+ sportsbooks and exchanges, with Novig and ProphetX on the same board as the books. Six devig methods, spread shown. Fees netted. A public record the page can't clean up. Start with our default filter or build your own, track your own bets, and test what works for you. What it doesn't have: player projections, simulators, an API, a mobile app.
It's an odds comparison tool. It takes no bets and sells no picks. Prices move; check the number at the book before you act.
We don't charge and we don't ask for a card. We spent months on it. It's Already proven to be profitable. All we ask is that if you are a consistent +EV bettor, make money with it and let us know if something breaks.
