P1326 Hyundai won’t cover. Please help.
On sunday my car got put into limp mode, after stopping it and turning it back on I realized the engine light was flashing so I took an ODB to it and read the code. P1326. Not a problem I thought after looking up some info, assuming it should be covered under the lifetime warranty.
I had purchased this vehicle from a dealership in mid-2021. I had asked about any accidents and wasn’t told about any. The next few years were fine, no problems at all until this. I make an appointment with Hyundai on Tuesday, take it in and they do all the tests. It fails the test and the representative says that I should be covered under warranty, it shouldn't be an issue, and the’re just waiting for Hyundai corporate to approve the swap. They did notice tell me that my engine wasn’t the original though, which was a surprise to me, because I had never done anything to it and was never told about this at the dealership.
Hyundai calls me back today, says the engine isn’t covered under warranty, and in fact isn’t even a Hyundai engine at all. that makes me wonder, how did the tech not know this or they not tell me when saying it should be covered under warranty.
Not only that, they‘re telling me the engine is from a totaled vehicle and if I want to do the engine swap it’s going to cost over $7k of my own money. I’m currently trying to get ahold of the dealership, but the guy I need to talk to is away at lunch or something. I was also under the impression that P1326 code only comes up on Kia and Hyundai engines, so not sure what’s happening there.
Unsure what to do or how to go about things. any help would be appreciated.
Edit: It is a 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE
