2027 Hyundai Tucson Revealed with New Design

Hyundai has just pulled the wraps of the new generation of the Tucson compact SUV. Like most of the automaker’s designs recently, it’s a radical departure from its predecessor, with a boxy look and prominent fender flares. A full-width lighting bar stretches across the modern-looking front and rear ends, and the headlights and taillights are both angular and futuristic.

What do you think of it?

Don’t Buy a Hyundai

The cars are decent, though the quality control isn’t so great these days. But if you do business with Hyundai Motor Finance, they’ll file false claims about you with credit reporting agencies. They’ll write you letters confirming that you have a zero balance and that your account is closed, and the next day they’ll tell Experian et al. that your account is delinquent. You’ll spend dozens of hours on the phone with their agents who don’t speak English, and your credit will be ruined. It’s not worth the hassle.

Elantra GT 2018 - engine fail (P1326) 9 months after purchase - Hyundai won't cover...

I bought a used 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT with 164,000 km from a non-Hyundai dealership. Nine months later, despite keeping up with my oil changes and having a full inspection done at a garage in March to make sure there was nothing that needed to be replaced and no major hidden issues, I ended up with a major engine problem. I had actually just finished sanding down the rust, applying primer, and repainting it with paint that matched the original finish because I wanted to keep the car for a long time.

On July 24, I went to start my car and the check engine light came on with code P1326. Based on what I found online, I was advised to take the car to a Hyundai dealership because of this specific code. After having the car for four days, the dealership told me that the cylinders were scored.

It took them two and a half weeks to finally tell me that my warranty claim had been denied because the BCT test passed. In other words, the test was successful, while the warranty apparently applies when the BCT fails.

I asked why my cylinders were scored, and I was told that there is some type of coating and that when the weather gets very hot or very cold, it can cause the cylinders to become scored. I live in Quebec, so I find that explanation pretty unacceptable considering the temperatures we normally experience here...

At the same time, I am also pursuing the matter with Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur (OPC) regarding the dealership that sold me the car, since I don't believe the vehicle lasted for a reasonable amount of time after purchase and there may potentially have been a hidden defect.

I paid $11,000 cash plus taxes for the car in November. The Hyundai dealership says the short block — basically the lower part of the engine — needs to be replaced.

I also tried contacting Hyundai Canada, but they told me that the process has to go through the dealership. The dealership says the repair will cost around $9,000.

My regular mechanic does not want to give me a quote yet because he wants to make sure there is no possibility of resolving the issue through another Hyundai dealership first. Meanwhile, I have no vehicle, and it has already been almost a month.

Another mechanic at a Hyundai dealership told me that there are no work orders/campaigns related to this issue for my specific model and model year.

Does anyone have any advice, or has anyone been through a similar situation? I have been waiting for a very long time and I really just want to get this resolved. I specifically bought a newer vehicle because I wanted to avoid exactly this kind of problem — having the engine fail on me.

Help with 2017 Elantra

I have a 2017 Elantra and recently when pulling forwards out of a parking spot and turning I can hear and feel like a popping/ cracking. It sounds like it’s coming from the front end and I can hear it come from both sides of the car and I can feel it in the steering wheel. When it does this my steering wheel feels loose when turning to the left and very tight when turning to the right and after a while it seems to straighten it self out. I’ve taken it to two different garages one of which was a Hyundai dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Has anyone had this issue before or know of a possible fix?

Why aren’t the Accent and Staria available in the USA?

I’ve been looking through YouTube videos and notice the both Accent and Staria stand out as being very decent vehicles. The Staria especially would sell and do well as both a family and rideshare vehicle, while the Accent itself could compete with other sedans by being both economical and reliable.

2017 Tucson 1.6T AWD making metallic rattle around 2,000 RPM — mechanic says replace the whole engine?

Hey everyone,
I recently bought a 2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6T AWD with 125k miles. During the test drive, everything seemed fine and the car drove normally.
After I bought it, I had the engine oil changed, and I started noticing a metallic rattling sound coming from the top area of the engine bay, most noticeable around 2,000 RPM.
Other than the noise, the car seems to be running fine:
No noticeable loss of power
No rough running
No overheating
No warning lights that I’ve noticed
Drives normally otherwise
I took it to my mechanic, and they’re telling me that I should replace the entire engine, which obviously is a huge expense that I really can’t afford right now.
Before I assume the engine is completely done, I wanted to ask other Tucson owners:
Has anyone experienced a similar metallic rattle around 1,500–2,000 RPM on the 1.6T? Was it something relatively simple like a timing-chain/tensioner issue, turbo/wastegate, VVT component, or another part that could be replaced instead of the entire engine?

I’m really hoping to hear from someone who actually had this problem and was able to fix it without replacing the whole engine.
If you’ve dealt with this, what was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost?
Thanks!

Tucson loses 12V power for a few minutes

We've been having a problem with our 2026 gas powered Tucson. On 3 occasions it will just suddenly lose all 12V power (fortunately not while we're driving, only when we go to the car to start it). The dash goes dead, no chimes, no hazard lights, doesn't recognize the key fob, can't start the car, nothing. We're not doing anything strange, just going to the car. After about 5 minutes everything comes back to life and we can start the car and go on our merry way. The strange thing is that there are no error codes so the mechanics don't really have a place to start. Has anyone had a similar issue? Any thoughts on what could be going on.

Check ESC and Electric Vacuum Pump Warranty Denial

Disclaimer: Not my picture, but this is what it looked like.

While I was visiting family 4 hours from where I live the “check ESC” & “electronic vacuum pump” warning lights popped up as well as the parking brake light when the parking brake was not on. I drove a few miles and then turned it off then started it again about a day later and drove home. The car drove normally for the entire four hour trip and my drive to work this morning. The light popped up again as I was turning my car off in the driveway about an hour ago.

I made an appointment originally when it first came on and the lady on the phone told me that if the light wasn’t actively on the dash they would not honor the warranty in fixing it. Does anybody else have experience with this or an issue similar to this?

Am I just supposed to drop everything that I’m doing when the light pops up and drive straight to the dealership so they can fix it? The lady said they can get a reader and tell that the code was thrown before but they won’t fix it because there’s “not actively anything wrong”.

Edit: I bought the car new in November 2025 and it has 11,000 miles on it.

Should I sell my hyundai sonata?

Basically what the title says, I have a 2019 hyundai sonata with about 83k miles on it. Within the past 2 years I have needed to put quite a few miles on it for school. (~20,000/year) It has had some mechanical issues such as new alternator, new thermostat, and recently a new head gasket.

Recently I noticed that my oil was running low and I brought it to the mechanic, thinking it may be the head gasket again. They let me know that it was not leaking oil, it was burning it off and that I should sell my car.

I did a bit of research and found this is a common hyundai issue with the piston rings. I do have a CPO power train warrenty until 120,000 miles but the mechanic said it’s better to sell while the car still has some value.

TLDR: 2019 hyundai sonata burning oil, might be covered under warrenty, looking for a second opinion on if I should just sell it.

2019 Sonata SE Questions

My parents just purchased a 2019 Sonata SE, 2.4L I4 F DOHC 16V Theta II GDI engine, 57,125 miles on the odometer. I'm wondering what sort of general preventative maintenance you'd recommend, as well as what NOT to do. I've seen engine/injector cleaner recommended several places, but also not recommended. A lot of contradictory information. Just looking for some clarification.

Also, I've tried to update the multimedia system, following all the steps laid out on the Hyundai website, but it doesn't recognize the USB drive. I know it's probably not necessary, but I'd love to know if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks!
