2.7L EcoBoost owners, how do you like them?

I am considering getting a truck and have been eyeing F-150s that are about 8-10 years old (don't have the money for anything newer than that). Although it would be fun to have a 5.0, with current gas prices and another kid on the way, I'm really looking to squeeze as much out of a tank of gas as possible. In my serches, I have noticed that the 2.7L EcoBoost tends to be cheaper than a 3.5L EcoBoost. Questions below:

  1. What might be the reason they are cheaper? Are they less reliable than 3.5L?
  2. Is the MPG any better? Or is the difference negligible?
  3. Is there a significant power difference?
  4. The trucks in my price range are 150k miles and up, is that the end of their life span, or can they get to 300k relatively easily? (keeping up on preventative maintenance and such)
