Grey OMC vs Grey Oval vs Champagne OMC

My grey OMC arrived today so I figured I'd do a comparison with my grey oval and champagne OMC (all from Kuololit).

The first thing I noticed is that the facet pattern on the grey OMC is different. The crown is taller and the pavilion facets are bigger, with a longer, thinner cutlet. Unfortunately, this makes it look at bit dull/static with less fire compared to the others. Still, the metallic grey effect is pretty. It's set in yellow plated 925, and unfortunately this is some of the worst plating I've seen from Kuololit. It's pretty vibrant cool yellow, and clashes with my 10k and 14k rings (the oval is set in solid 10k yellow gold).

It's a pretty ring, but I wish Kuololit had more consistent and authentic yellow plating.

Who else got the grey OMC? I saw someone else's had the other facet pattern - which does yours match?

Custom cut warm OEC from LGG Jewelry

2.16 J/K OEC (no certificate) set in 14k yellow gold

There was a beautiful ring sold on one of the BST subreddits a while back that I absolutely loved, so I asked Romy at LGG Jewelry to make a similar one. I specifically requested a warm (I/J/K color) OEC of around 2ct. Since they didn't have one in stock, they custom cut this one for me. It has incredible fire in indirect daylight.

This is the fourth project I've done with Romy and every single experience has been wonderful. Every piece has been high quality, with strong, secure settings.

Show me your warm lab diamonds and OECs! They are my favorite!

More Kuololit bracelets (and some fun comparisons)

Just received these two new treasures!

3mm champagne moissanite station bracelet in 10k yellow gold - this was a custom request and I specifically asked for pale champagne. I wanted it to go with my champagne lab diamond ring (pic 3) and the darker champagne stones (top bracelet in pic 4) are too golden to match. I also like that it will go with my warm white diamond rings (GHIJ-color) as well. It's hard to capture the beautiful warmth of the stones in pictures.

2.5mm lab diamond bezel tennis bracelet in 10k yellow gold - I've worn my 3mm moissanite bezel from Kuololit so often that I decided to get a lab version. I wanted something in between my super dainty 2.5mm prong bracelet and my chunkier 3.6mm half bezel and I just love the smooth comfortable feel of a full bezel bracelet. This one ticks all of the boxes for me and will probably be my most common daily wear.

Fourth picture shows the 3mm white moissanite bracelet, new champagne bracelet, 3mm pale champagne bezel bracelet, and 3mm darker champagne prong bracelet. All are from Kuololit and all are yellow plated silver except the new station bracelet.

Fifth picture shows my beloved 3mm moissanite bezel bracelet (very pale yellow plated silver) and my new lab diamond bezel bracelet.

Kuololit's bezel bracelets are my favorite! Do you have any of them? Please share pics of your favorites!

Alexandrite and cyan cushion moissanite rings

These two beauties just arrived (along with the matching alexandrite pendant)!

1ct alexandrite in yellow plated 925 - I can't get my camera to capture it, but this stone is the most gorgeous moody dark teal most of the time, but has some awesome flashes of steely blue and purple in the right lighting. It's really incredible. I think it would look extra cool if it had black rhodium plating on the bezel+prongs, but that's not something I've seen offered from Samstin/Kuololit (so far).

5ct cyan cushion in yellow plated 925 - This is definitely a statement piece. It's a big ol' sparkly chonker. I wish the cyan was a bit more dark/vibrant, but the color is still a very nice medium green.

The settings on both of these rings have beautiful vintage details and seem very well made. The gold plating is darker than many of my other Kuololit/Samstin pieces, but it's actually probably the closest to 18k gold that I've seen. It's a touch cooler and more vibrant. It goes well enough and doesn't clash with my 10k and 14k solid gold jewelry.

The pendant (not shown) matches the ring perfectly and goes nicely on a 14k chain I have.

Do you have any Kuololit or Samstin alexandrite pieces? What do you think of them?

Champagne jubilee moissanite ring (stock ring w/custom stone swap)

This just arrived and I'm totally smitten.

It's the 2ct jubilee split shank (stock color is cyan - I asked for an exchange to a champagne for an extra fee). It's set in yellow plated 925.

The jubilee is a gorgeous light-mid golden champagne, and the fire in it is evident in all lighting. Jubilee cuts seem to be meant for moissanite's crazy rainbows. My cyan jubliee is one of my favorites. I would love to see more in different colors like grey and blue as well.

Another stunning winner from Kuololit!

Do you have any jubilee moissanite? What do you think of them?

Stock grey OMC!!

Well this is super exciting! I think the price will come down a bit once the listing is fleshed out with more pictures, etc (I've noticed this pattern on other new arrivals), but I know there are so many of us that wanted this!

Get excited!!

Ovals are an interesting beast in moissanite, with some looking super crisp and throwing lots of rainbows, while others look more hazy. Here's a few I have from left to right:

  1. 2ct 9mm x 7mm grey brilliant oval from Kuololit - This one might be the most sparkly moissanite I own up there with the round brilliants. It throws so much fire and looks really cool in both low lighting and bright lighting.

  2. 2ct 9mm x 7mm DEF OMC brilliant hybrid from Kuololit - It's listed as an OMC but it doesn't have the chunky large facets - instead it looks mostly like a brilliant with a pinpoint cutlet. It looks pretty crisp, but it has a bit less fire.

  3. 2ct 9mm x 7mm DEF brilliant from ATTAGEMS - It's just about as crisp and sparkly as my grey oval. It's the one that made me realize that moissanite oval brilliants were SO pretty and inspired the purchase of the grey oval.

  4. 2.5ct 10mm x 7mm DEF brilliant from Samstin - The disappointment. I thought all moissanite oval brilliants would be created equal but that's not the case, unfortunately. I think it must have to do with the elongated ratio causing the facets to not align into the hearts and arrows pattern. It looks hazy and static compared to the others, and doesn't really give many rainbows even in bright "jewelry store" type lighting. Maybe it's just not well cut?

I also have two diamond ovals - a 3ct vivid green brilliant and a 2ct G color crushed ice that both look very different from all of these as well in facet pattern, clarity and sparkle.

I may have to try and get a diamond cut and a crushed ice oval moissanite for comparison as well.

I'd also love to get a hearts & arrows oval diamond someday, since they have a similar facet pattern to moissanite oval brilliants.

What do you think of moissanite ovals? Do you have any that are particularly beautiful?
