CAD check on a bezel marquise
I am open to any and all comments! This is an engagement ring to replace my old one.
I don't want it very high set, but it is important to me that I can stack rings flush. Can anybody confirm that will be possible?
Do you see any glaring issues?
I love the petal design under, but will it make the stone appear ugly in anyway?
I'm thinking about maybe making the side stones smaller?
Tysm!
My first lab!!
Any guesses on what this set cost?
3ct oval center stone with hidden halo and oval half eternity band, set in 18k solid yellow gold.
Toi et moi from Provence arrived💕
Just celebrated a milestone birthday and decided to “gift” myself a toi et moi ring for my right hand. I worked with Lucy from Provence, who did an amazing job selecting the stones and getting the design right. She was wonderful to work with!!
10K yellow gold setting, 4.03ct radiant, 3.06ct pear, ring size US 7.25
Paid $1,665 + a $22 import fee with DHL
Opinions about V-prong on Marquise?
People with Marquise, what are your opinions about V-prong? I love everything about that ring, but the V-prong is making me consider a little more. I know it protects the stone better, but I'm not sure if it looks good. I've been looking at the prongs too much to have a fair judgement tbh
Bad Experience with Grown Brilliance
I purchased both my engagement ring and wedding band from this company, and unfortunately my overall experience has been extremely disappointing.
One of the main reasons for my frustration is that the complimentary 2 ct earrings included with my $4,430.27 purchase—earrings the company valued at $595—broke in less than a year. When I contacted customer service regarding the warranty, I was told the warranty would not be honored because the earrings were considered a “gift.” Regardless of how the item was categorized, it was included as part of a significant purchase, and I expected the company to stand behind the quality of the products they provide.
I should have taken this as a warning sign, but I decided to give the company another opportunity when purchasing my wedding band. Unfortunately, that experience was equally frustrating.
After selecting a ring listed at $1,995 and placing it in my cart, the price unexpectedly increased to $2,295 during checkout. I contacted customer support through the chat feature, and the representative initially confirmed the lower advertised price. However, when he added the ring to his own cart, he experienced the same issue. He offered to call me back to resolve the matter, but I never received a call.
I then had to contact customer service by phone and explain the situation again. The representative I spoke with stated she did not have the authority to honor the original listed price and said she would speak with her manager and call me back the same day. That call never came either.
The following day, I called again and requested to speak directly with a manager. I was told the manager was unavailable and would return my call later. When I finally did receive a callback, I once again had to explain the entire situation from the beginning. I was informed there had been a “system glitch,” but again was told they did not have the authority to correct the issue immediately. Eventually, after several conversations and repeated follow-ups on my end, the company agreed to honor the original advertised price, while also emphasizing that they reserve the right to change prices at any time.
Throughout the entire process, there was very little accountability, communication, or ownership of the issue. I consistently felt like I was being passed from one person to another without any real effort to resolve the situation efficiently or professionally.
Based on my experience, I do not feel this company stands behind its products or prioritizes customer service after the sale is completed. I will not be purchasing from them again, and I would not recommend them to friends or family looking for engagement rings or wedding jewelry.
New to lab diamonds- Is this a decent deal?
I’m a newbie and trying to do some research… I’m Looking at a single 3CT on a 18k white gold band.
I didn’t see the IGI report, but they said color/clarity is F/VS1. They are asking $4k.
Does this seem reasonable or something I should pass on?
TIA!
Diamond review
Hi everyone, could you please provide your opinion on the following Marquise diamond.
It's not taken in the best lighting, but I'm unsure if this is a good diamond in terms of bowtie, cut, etc. Overall, is this a good diamond?
It is a 3.02 Carat, D, VVS2
Thank you!
Is the bowtie too overpowering?
Specs: 2.50ct VVS2 brilliant cut pear fancy vivid blue lab diamond
I already purchased the diamond (I know, wrong move) without having asked for a video. The gem360 video barely showed any bowtie. However when the actual gem video was sent to me, even the seller agreed that the bowtie was very obvious. They refunded me.
My partner is telling me that bowties add character and depth. I agree, but I think in this case it's too overpowering. What do you think? Thanks!
Question: Diamonds on Sides of Ring Band
Hi!
Can anyone with an engagement ring with diamonds on the sides (front/back) of your ring give me insight into how they’ve held up?
I know it’s typically frowned upon because it can scratch up wedding bands but I like the look personally. As I’m getting ideas for a ring, this is something I’m strongly considering but want to hear from people who have this.
Would you recommend it? Do you replace stones often? Anything I should keep in mind or just completely avoid it?
TIA😊
Buying an engagement ring - where to start (UK)?
Hello all,
I would like to propose to my girlfriend.
I would like to do this by the end of July this year. Tight time frame, maybe?
Budget, max £4,000.
I want to go with a lab diamond. I was suggested a website via co-worker called Lily Arkwright. I assume solely because they have a store not far from an office in Paddington we sometimes get sent to.
Looking on their website I quite like the following (I'll avoid posting a link, I am not affiliated with that site and ultimately I would like guidance/suggestions or where else I can shop):
Style: Pear Lab Diamond 950 Platinum Petite Halo
Carat: 3.00
Colour: D
Metal: 950 Platinum
Ring size: TBC
Suggested cost: £2,884
or
Style: Round Lab Diamond 950 Platinum Shoulder
Carat: 3.00
Colour: D
Metal: 950 Platinum
Ring size: TBC
Suggested cost: £3,141
My questions:
- How're the prices?
- Online stores / physical shop suggestions? I live in Gloucestershire and I'm happy to travel
- I visited a Glodsmiths over the weekend just to understand carat size and 2 didn't seem particularly big but they had no 3 in to show me. I'm assuming it's not outlandish
- Time frame OK?
The above styles are in the ball park of what she has pointed out in the past.
Happy to do any reading required here if you want to post any links for my better understanding. Completely new to this.
Appreciate any guidance
Thank you.
Well, I Did It. Pinky Ring Incoming
A month or two back, I posted about a Sette pinky ring that I really liked. Unfortunately, the ring from Sette was two tone. I literally avoid white gold like the plague. 1. It doesn’t look good on me, and 2. I am severely allergic to nickel. So, if I want something in white gold, I would need them to use palladium instead of nickel to get the while color.
There were other things I wanted changed as well. The original ring is 4.5mm and 1.8mm thick. This ring is 6mm and 2.2mm thick. Happy at Starsgem was able to fulfill my requirements and it came in way under budget. It’s approximately 9.1g 14k. I can’t wait for her to arrive. She’s a whole beast of a pinky ring. Size: 3.5 US
Y’all, I really love Happy. She just goes along with my whims and makes magic. She’s never mean and she always gets me a fantastic price. I will never stray from her again.
I’ll post a photo when she arrives.
Advice on pear cut studs?
I currently have two pairs of lab created diamond stud earrings - 0.75 tcw round YG bezel/basket setting F-G / VS2-SI1 and 1 tcw round WG martini setting F-G / VS2-SI1 - and am ready to finally add a third pair. Specifically, I would like another pair in YG, 2.0 tcw (because shrinkage is real, right? lol), pear cut, with a martini setting. I've narrowed it down to a pair from Miadonna and a pair from Virabyani, but could use some advice/opinions on which ones to choose, please!
The Miadonna ones are more of a martini-like style, I think, and I'm curious if there's any advantage/disadvantage to the way the Miadonna ones are set verses the Virabyani ones. Also, if I go with the Miadonna pair, I'm not sure if the differences in color/clarity would be noticeable and thus worth the increased price. If you were choosing between these pairs, which ones would you go with?
ETA: The Virabyani ones come in screw or push back - same price. I know screw backs are usually preferred, but I really don't have a preference and am equally happy with either!
Has anyone else purchased lab diamond stud earrings from Diyona?
Just got my 2ctw studs from them today, and while the stones are gorgeous the posts and pushbacks are almost microscopic compared to the pics on their site. Is that just what they are? I'm old, and the pushback pieces are so tiny you can barely see them, not even as big as cheap cheap earring backs I have. I originally wanted screw backs, and even emailed asking about them but never got a reply and mistakenly assumed I could buy Lox type backings for these but I think the posts are too skinny even for that. I will have to learn how to post pix so I can show online pic vs. reality. Assuming I will have to send these back but wanting others thoughts if anyone else has purchased. Any other good sites for 2 cttw 14K yellow gold with basket setting and screwbacks. For $700 I don't feel like this is a great deal for me.
So disappointed with jeweler’s bait and switch
I found this highly rated local jeweler that specializes in lab diamonds for an engagement ring upgrade. After going in for two consultations, we excitedly put down a $1,200 deposit for this 3.1 elongated cushion diamond pictured in the first photo. They told me they could put it on my current engagement ring band (pictured in the last 2 photos) and add a hidden halo. The estimate they gave us all-in was $5,700 before tax.
But another jeweler from the store just called me and said the 2 sales associates I saw last week gave me bad information and that she cannot in fact put that stone on my engagement ring . Her exact words were, “can I do it? Yes, will you like it? No.”
Instead, she said she wants to use my current small stones from the engagement ring and put the metal towards the price of a totally new ring so that she can start from scratch and build on that because it will be more sturdy for the stone and more aesthetically pleasing.
She was talking a lot about why it wouldn’t work and that I should love it because it’s my upgrade, it’s a beautiful stone, etc. but she was dancing around the new price so finally I asked how much more it would cost than the estimate they gave us. She said $8,700 pre tax. So that’s a 50% increase—plus I wouldn’t be able to visually see the ring that she is going to create for me, whereas in the store I was able to hold the stone up to my engagement band and I liked the look of it.
What do you think? Does this stink? Is she just trying to upsell me? Should I find a different jewelry store and see if they’re willing to put a similar stone on my engagement ring or should I believe her that I need a totally new ring?
We are likely going to ask for our deposit back. I am totally bummed. This was supposed to be my 10-year anniversary upgrade 😩
UPDATE! They just emailed the itemized new estimate and it’s now $10,700 just 2 hours later!!! I am shook.
Help me with my engagement ring re-design: am I over-thinking sentimentalism?
I've been going back and forth on this for a while and need some outside perspective.
My husband proposed with a beautiful natural diamond 10 years ago, a 1.5ct near flawless, round brilliant. It's currently in the original setting (a halo) and I have decided I want a 3-stone engagement ring. For context, my fingers are on the shorter size, I'm a size 6.5-7, and all the new stones I'm considering will be lab.
My current stone feels slightly too small to be a center stone in a 3-stone, but slightly too big to work as a side stone. I've always wanted a larger center (2-2.25 ct), but I worry the 2 ct + two 1.3 sides will be too overpowering for my short fingers. But I really like the idea of including my original stone somehow
BUT what I have grown to become OBSESSED with are old euro diamonds. I'd love to use true antique stones but I also know lab would save me a lot of money while still giving me that aesthetic
The dilemma is: if I go the antique lab route with a new ring, I lose the sentimental connection to my original diamond. I mean, my husband will pay for the new stone and I'd have my original stone set into a charm so I'm always wearing it. But again, if I went the 3 stone antique lab route....what if I had the small accent stones from my current ring set inside the band of the new one? Like hidden, only I know they're there. They've been with me for almost 10 years so they mean something
Would you:
try to incorporate the existing 1.5 natural into a new 3-stone ring with a slightly larger center
or go the fully new antique lab route and try to include tiny stones from original set?
here's the look(s) I'm going for
Bezel quality
I have a lab diamond waiting for me with a specific jeweler. I can either have it mailed to me, or they can make a ring for me. I'm concerned that their bezel rings are imperfect...maybe homemade looking. Maybe it's the poor photography as they're a small business and rely on photos from previous clients, but they look imperfect. They have 2 locations, so you'd assume they're good at their job...
Does anyone know whether a bezel setting is difficult and possibly varies by jeweler? If they aren't good at bezel I'd rather get a standard 4 prong basket set ring.
Pink diamond in person vs stock photo
Hi guys I am currently in the market for a pink diamond but I noticed there’s a lot that is very peachy/ orangey. Did anyone notice a difference when they ordered something like this and it was less orangey in person and more of a neutral pink?
Is my budget realistic?
My bf and I are designing my ring and based on what I like, I wonder if it would be within budget (max $7k, kinda pushing it tho). And if that’s the case, do you guys have any bespoke jewelers you would recommend? I’m currently talking to a few jewelers I found on TikTok but open to other suggestions.
I’m mainly looking at a compass prong two-tone setting with 14k yellow gold band and white gold/platinum head. Band width between 2mm and 3mm depending on which setting we choose. Carat size will be between 2.5-3 for OMC with ratio between 1.2-1.3 because I prefer the rounder corners. As for pear, I like the champagne/brown color but also open to white. Pear would be set east to west so I’m thinking a 2 carat with a smaller ratio. My ring size is a 4.25
Most places we’ve looked at for an OMC are charging an arm and a leg 😭. Also when looking for an OMC, are there things I should avoid? And is there such a thing as a brilliant OMC? I love the faceting of an OMC but I also want that sparkle factor too.
