JW "Logic" Summed Up in 2 Verses

Revelation 7:15 — "For this reason they are before the throne of God and worship him day and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them."

This verse depicts the Great Crowd who, according to JWs, are destined to eternal life on earth.

The problem with this interpretation is that the verse explicitly states they 1) are before the throne of God and 2) serve Him from within His temple (naos), both of which are in heaven. Yet JW "logic" says they are on the earth.

Revelation 14:1 — "Then I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion! And with him were one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads."

This verse describes the 144,000 who, according to JW doctrine, are destined to eternal life in heaven. However, the text depicts them on Mount Zion, which is a physical, literal geographic location on the earth.

So in both instances, the JW interpretation requires the reader to believe the exact opposite of what the text plainly says on the surface:

  • Rev 7:15: Placed in the heavenly temple ➡️ JWs say they are on Earth.
  • Rev 14:1: Placed on an earthly mountain ➡️ JWs say they are in Heaven.

#####The logic?

Because, that's why.

"Truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one stroke of a letter to pass away from the Law" — Matthew 5:18

Of course the NWT does a little theological editing with this verse, but the meaning remains more or less in tact: heaven and earth will have to pass away before a single letter of the Law is done away with.

Contrast that with Jesus's words at Matthew 24:35:

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away."

Even if heaven and earth pass away (He says that they will, but that's another topic), the words of Jesus will never pass away by any means.

This is very interesting in light of passages like Isaiah 40:8 and Psalm 119:89 which state the word of God will endure forever.

Who exactly is Jesus claiming to be by stating the Law will pass away, but His words will by no means pass away?
