SBI account hold/lien amount 19K
I received an email from SBI on 15/08/2026 saying:
«“Hold for INR 18,999.86 created in deposit A/c XXXXXXXX on 15/08/26. If not consented, pl contact branch-SBI.”»
I did not knowingly request or authorize this hold.
I want to understand:
What are the common reasons SBI places a hold/lien on an account?
Could this be related to a cybercrime complaint, disputed transaction, or some kind of bank investigation?
How can I find out the exact reason/reference number for this hold online?
If there is no issue from my side, how long does it normally take for SBI to release the held amount?
Has anyone here experienced a similar SBI hold/lien? How long did it take in your case?
Does the ₹18,999.86 become available automatically after the issue is resolved, or do I need to submit any documents/request to SBI?
I have already contacted/plan to contact SBI, but I would like to hear from people who have actually experienced a similar hold.
