Advice for IT Quality assurance role

Hello,

I am a bit stuck in my current company and was hoping I could get some career advice based on the IT scene in NL.

I am looking for some perspective.

My situation -

Here on partner visa (I'm non EU)

15+ year IT experience

Working on a permanent contract in a non IT company (QA lead for ERP)

5800 Gross per month

Permanent contract

Dutch level beginner - B1 level by next year

I am deeply unhappy with my current employer. It is a toxic blaming environment and there's no clear goals or objectives due to poor management.

I have spent 3 years in this company and have had 4 different managers so far (all of them left).

Due to Dutch constraints, I am getting auto rejected from applications for another job.

What would you do in my position?

  1. Wait out until Dutch proficiency and then apply

  2. Upskill to another niche tech (if yes, then which one?)

  3. Look for another position in the company

  4. Wait for market to improve and casually apply meanwhile

I'm looking for some constructive feedback. The current situation is stressful and I feel a bit harmful also for my career.

Workout advice

Dear fellow fathers,

Long time member first time poster.

I have a 2 year old daughter and I think I can finally start focusing a bit on my health.

Before she was born, I hit the gym 3-4x week and was very disciplined with my diet.

Now I go to the gym once a month and have unfortunately resorted to eat unhealthy foods. I don't know how or when it happened but I am now mostly craving sweets and fried stuff.

For the dads who went through the same:

  1. How did you find your way back to fitness?

  2. Any hack for maintaining good fitness at home? I like weight training and have no experience with other forms of workout.

  3. How did you motivate yourself?

I can only workout twice a week, on weekends and maybe once in the weekdays.

Thanks!

How to improve playing only weaker players?

In my club I'm at a weird position.

I'm rated 1556 points in the Netherlands.

At my rating, the higher rated players don't want to play with me, the ones who have similar skill level as me don't practice at all apparently and then there are weaker players who I play with a lot

With the weaker players I feel like my game is not improving because I hit one topspin and the point is over.

I've noticed I'm getting bad habits in the game. Being too passive and lazy since I don't need to work hard for my points.

How do I improve in this situation?

Test Automation framework design advice

Dear community,

I have a framework based on Selenium java on Maven testng.

I have some default behaviours in the framework that I want to keep consistent across the org.

My question -

Currently, I run separate frameworks for multiple web applications, if I make an improvement in one, I have to manually make them in all.

These need to be separate since they are also added to azure pipelines if separate DevOps projects.

How would you make it so that there is one framework for multiple apps?

Any ideas are welcome.

My TT shoes insoles after 1 year

Andro cross step 2

Really gives me an idea how much pressure I put on the toes!

This is not a product diss. This is expected to happen with time, I think.

Does this happen for you guys as well? In how long ?

The rest of the shoe is intact so I switched to new soles.

How to stop being stiff (in the body) while playing?

I have a Chinese rubber FH and G1 bh with timo boll zlc.

I also have a very good topspin but I get very stiff while hitting FH topspins which causes me to lose speed.

Consequently, I also struggle to return the block since I'm not back in position. The longer the rally goes, the more chances the opponent has to win the point.

Do you guys have any mental hacks to be more relaxed while playing?

Battle 2 Blue national suddenly dead?

I have been using my battle 2 rubber on FH since two months. It gave me a lot. I won against very good opponents and my FH was very consistent.

After two months, since the last two practice sessions, all the tackiness has vanished and I now need to throw my whole body to get the topspin across the net.

I play average 6-7 hours per week.

The attacks are also less potent.

Question -- I am new to this rubber and hence want to know what should I do with it now

  1. Throw it - I have new sheets of H3 neo prov blue sponge 39 deg

  2. Boost it

I also don't want to have the hassle of changing rubbers so often, how long do you guys use tacky rubbers before changing them?

My coach says when the ball is still rising. I think it's easier when its on its way down.

Curious how you guys do it.
