Next time there’s an Arunachal–Assam issue, please don’t drag the entire states into it. This was essentially a brotherly dispute involving the same sister communities, and it has nothing to do with Changlang, Lohit, Namsai, West Kameng, or Assam as a whole.

GoAR retaliated post the abutani clash (mishing and AR abutanis)and it may end up hurting the very sons of the soil. The Sadiya Frontier Tract has a deeper historical connection with Assam than the present-day state of Arunachal Pradesh. Thats what politics is..Chance pai gol!

When politicians run the show and the public either remains silent or rushes to defend it

Is this the vision that the founding fathers of India aspired to for an independent India? Is this what the hard-earned freedom of our country was meant to look like?

Instead of treating the indigenous Assamese communities Ahom, Moran, Mishing, and Sonowal as second-class (3rd) citizens in the former Sadiya Frontier Tract of NEFA, I believe that Lekang, Namsai, and other areas that were once part of the Sadiya Frontier Tract should be merged with Assam.

Just as the Tangsa, Khampti, and Singpho communities have historical ties and rights in both Assam and the former Sadiya Frontier Tract, the Assamese communities (Ahom, Moran, Mishing, and Sonowal) should likewise enjoy equal historical recognition and rights in those historical regions.

To protect economic interests, to shape identity, to control historical memory, to gain power people distorts through misinformation or falsehoods. During the Ahom period, entry of both people and goods was regulated through a controlled-border policy. Assam didn't include Koch-kamatapur, Goalpara..

until british arrival. While the regions of Koch-kamatapur, kokrajhar, Goalpara were under the british since 1757-64 farman, Assam went under the british rule only after 1826, 1838.

Those who migrated only after British rule began cannot generally be considered indigenous to the region, as their migration was primarily driven by economic opportunities. They did not share the region's indigenous languages or cultural traditions.

Someone commented that Assamese people are lazy and unwilling to work. Such stereotypes are often used to support a particular narrative. In reality, many people from Assam, facing limited employment opportunities at home, are compelled to seek work in other states.

"No meaning in declaring #Assamese as majority language if not spoken or written at home": #HimantaBiswaSarma : India Today

Once a language receives official status, it gains greater institutional support, recognition, and influence in administration, education, and public life.

rightly said. After all, this is taxpayers' money, and there is every reason to expect accountability and proper use of public funds.

Such incidents have been occurring for many years. I wish there was a residency registration system similar to China's Hukou system which would have addressed some of these concerns.
