What is the motivation to play Herbivore in The Isle Evrima?

Good morning,

I recently started playing The Isle Evrima. At first, I mostly played as carnivores—trying to play as the Rex whenever I could—but after a while, I started to really enjoy playing as the Trike.

After a few disastrous attempts, I realized I was basically 12.5 tons of steak for Rexes. So, I decided to step up my game and started watching tutorials and practicing on PVP servers to learn how to defend myself a bit. I have to say, compared to when I started, I've improved a lot. Even though most Rexes can still beat me, I've reached a point where I was able to take down two prime Rexes by myself (they were probably very inexperienced players, but a month ago, I would've been the one dying).

The thing is, in every tutorial I watch, and every time I talk to friendly Rexes on PVP servers—or even when asking AI—everyone agrees that 90% of the time, between two players of equal skill level (a Rex and a Triceratops), the Rex player will win. So, what's the point of playing as a Triceratops, or for that matter, any herbivore in the game?

I understand that it's a survival game, and it wouldn't make sense for Rexes to be hunted down by herbivores either. But I just don't see the motivation to play as a herbivore if, no matter how hard you try to improve, the game seems designed (according to AI) for one to simply be food for the other.

Which leads to my question: What are the benefits of playing as a herbivore in The Isle?
