Arranging advice for non-tuba player

Hi all,

I hope this is allowed. I'm arranging a piece which includes a tuba. It's the first time I've arranged for any brass at all. I'm doing it in Dorico, and it has highlighted some tuba notes as being outside the comfortable range.

The player is a C tuba, and is a professional (we're working with a prestigious orchestra). My question is how comfortable is it to play these notes (see attachment). They need to be not too loud and staccato.

It's doubling other players (organ, trumpet and flute) doing the same line.

Help transcribing trumpet glissando

(repost after messing up the title)

Hi all, I hope this is allowed a post. I need some advice/direction and i don't know any trumpet players. I'm arranging a piece at the moment, and in a very dramatic part I want the trumpet (B flat) (and tuba!) to do a slide up glissand.

A bit like this bit in John Adams's Short Ride in a Fast Machine (I think it's a flugel horn in this bit, but I only have a trumpet player)

https://youtu.be/qwa42YhCT2E?si=9VXVWULUDpVm0exS&t=98 (1:38 in)

I've transcribed it as shown in the image.

My question is: does that make sense, ie. should a professional orchestral player be able to do it? I've never scored for brass before. The harmony isn't as important as the drama so if it's more comfortable to do a smaller range, I change try it.

Any advice welcome.
