Jazz band
So at my school there’s a jazz band I want to join but they already have enough trombones and the only instrument they don’t have is baritone saxophone so I’m wondering if there is any downsides to my tuba playing if I double on it

I am continuing to work on a new project...
I remind you that there is no music created using artificial intelligence here. Only live guitar, bass. The working wind instruments were made using VST, but there is already an agreement to record a saxophonist and a trumpeter! Good luck to all!

My husband left today from the US for a 10-day brass band tour in the Netherlands & Belgium. We didn't find out until we got to the airport (despite having asked) that because his horn & flight case weigh more than 75lb, it couldn't go on the flight.
His tour manager is looking for alternatives (there will be 2 others in the same boat who leave tomorrow), but I've been doing some searching and the best I can come up with is that Adams Music in Ittervoort might rent him a CC?
Does anyone have any ideas? They meet in Amsterdam Monday, leave for Bruges on Tuesday.
Thanks from the non-musician spouse on the ground...
I can guess what the 120s and 67C4 Eastrock mouthpieces on Amazon are cloning, what would the 22 and "standard" mouthpieces be attempting to replicate?
The mouthpieces I'm looking at are here - https://a.co/d/09f9mr7b
Pondering picking up a couple to try something different to what I have access to currently. Any tips for other budget options would be welcome too.
Hi, I am preparing for my university graduation recital. Since the performance is in December, there are no strict restrictions on difficulty, but it must be finished within about 10 minutes. Also, I cannot use the pieces I performed for my practical exam or collaboration. Actually, I ended up using a piece(John williams) I really wanted to play for my first semester practical exam because my plans got messed up, so I have to urgently choose a new piece for my graduation recital.
I am currently deciding between 'V.Strukow concerto movement 1&3' and 'Mike forbes Alpine concerto movement 1'. Do you happen to have any song recommendations? I will write a song below that I have already played and cannot use.
Sonatine: Bozza , Hindemith
Concerto: John williams, Vaughan williams, Artiunian, Koetsier, Szentpali
ask me anything
It has no name, composer, or number so I was just wondering what the name is to get a better look at it.

Has anyone had any luck with the Giddings stainless steel mouthpieces on their EEb's? If so, what model? I was interested in the Diablo, on description and size alone it seems like it would make a good orchestral and band mouthpiece. I'm looking for personal experience though.
Hello,
I recently started to play the Tuba as a side instrument I usually play French Horn and got a 3 valve Eb Tuba for fun. And it has also rotary valves like my French Horn except the ones at the Tuba are much heavier at the beginning and sometimes are a bit slow coming up. As a beginner it isnt much a problem cause I dont play fast. But it is something that triggers me sometime because the valves at my French Horn are so smooth. I already the valves 2 times the first like 5 presses its super smooth but the next ones are like at the beginning. Am I doing something wrong? It is a St. Petersburg Tuba I think it is called.
Still working on my new project — SLOW / LOW. For those who keep saying I make all my music with AI — here's a raw clip from the studio. Just me, Cubase, and a lot of fuzz. The vocal track you hear is a scratch take — just a bunch of mumbled rhythmic phrases, no real lyrics yet. The high actual poetry is coming soon..
Does anyone have experience with the silent brass mutes from Yamaha?
I want to use it in an appartement for my miraphone 186 Bb tuba.
How does it affect the intonation and feel/flow of air of the tuba?
I'd love to just pick up my horn any time during the day without bothering my neighbours or partner. A good practice mute would be the easiest and cheapest way to achieve this.
I just opened the gears for some oiling, and I saw this.. how big is the problem?
Thanks for any help
I’ve been playing for around 6 months in my schools concert and now marching band. Before I was able to switch in the fall I played euphonium for around a year practicing daily and continue to practice euphonium for around an hour a day. I’m going to start practicing tuba daily as well, (for around an hour) and wanted to fix My tone because it sounds airy and just not as full as I want it to be. Any advice?
I was trialing a MW 2182W 2 months ago, and these black plastic rings were on top the valve caps. Neither me or my teacher could identify what they were or why they were there. Anybody have any ideas?
I was watching a music video and it featured a Tuba like this. It looks like it has 6 rotary valves. I can’t find anything about it
I am at my wit's end with the internet. I purchased a 100 plus year old F tuba that has only three valves. I cannot find a fingering chart for this instrument that only has three possible valves. Everything I found is at least four valves and that will not work for me. It has to be an F tuba with only three valves.
Can anyone point me in the right direction because I have been looking for 2 days now?
