I'm in a pickle

Hey everyone. I'm currently trying to get a CC tuba, a Meinl Weston 5 valve. But I can't playtest it since it is online, but they have a 30-day trial. The only way I could afford it would be to get rid of my King 2341 New Style. Is it worth the risk? Thanks everyone! (Would need it for symphony btw).

Olds Sax Model

Hello everybody. I have an Olds Tenor Sax that I don't know the model of it and have looked online and haven't found any. I would appreciate the help, thanks! (Model should be on the second picture, NT66NN II).

Jobs for Money

Hey y'all, I was wondering what's better: getting a single car server for Roadmap job or just grinding Sahara for money? Also, what can I do to not get bored if I do the jobs for a long time? Thanks

Mouthpieces

Just a wonder question: What are the most popular tuba mouthpieces currently? Also, how come the Hellebergs are so popular? Thanks!

Finger Combinations

Quick question. I know the fingering for a low Eb on a BBb tuba can be either 1,2,4 or 1,4 (without a 5th valve), and they can be sharp/flat for different tubas. Though, which combination is best overall? 1,2,4 or just 1,4? Thanks!

Switching Tubas

Hey y'all. Just was wondering something. When is it necessary (if) to switch your key of tuba? I have heard a CC is easier for symphonies, but BBb is easier for more generalized stuff. (That can also vary on how long you've used them). I was wondering if I should switch, I currently use a Miraphone 191/King 2341W for my orchestra/more general stuff and I am pretty familiar with both horns. I can play solos and excerpts well and can sightread many symphony pieces. Just wondering on peoples thoughts? Thanks.

Tuba Valves

Hey everybody. I wanted to ask a question here. Are valve caps and valve buttons (the ones you put your fingers on to press down on the valve) for a King 2341W replaceable, or can you install new ones on them? If they are, please lmk where you can get some. Thanks!

Buying a Tuba

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get a tuba for home to use instead of just borrowing one from my high school. A senior I know is leaving for college, and he is proposing a King 2341W to me for 4000 flat, case included and possibly a nice mouthpiece to throw in. It has minor dents and all valves work. I'm going to his place over the weekend to try it. I currently use a Miraphone 191 in school with an assortment of dings and a crinkled bell, but I can't use it for programs I'm in or at home. Should I take this deal? (If that is of course, I like to play it). I've checked with my teachers, and they've said it would be a good deal for me. What're your guys' thoughts? Thanks!

Standing with Tuba

Was just wondering if anyone knows any good thing, such as a belt or harness to use that I can be able to stand with my tuba for a while. (On a side note, for slide grease, would Hetmans 8 be good?)

Tenor trombone for fun

I was thinking of getting a tenor trombone just for fun to use at home, not anything serious. I really like the Kiss-bone design at Schäger. That’s when I found the Schiller American Heritage 400 trombone. I know that company can be a hit or miss, but it looks really good. havent seen any reviews for it yet. Good to get just for something to mess around one that’s an inexpensive option?

I’m getting ready to record a piece for a quick solo submission, and I was wondering about which instruments to use. it’s a trio piece about a minute, peaceful, a little slow and lyrical. I have a tuba for the bass line, and I have two higher parts, primarily for two trombones. I was wondering, out of these instruments I have, should be on which parts? (either lead or support). I have a bass trumpet, flugabone, bass trombone, and euphonium. Thanks!
