I absolutely loved their show this year! I've always been a fan but this year was so much fun! Great job to everyone who was apart of them this year! I'll definitely look to donate a bit of my next paycheck and volunteer next season if I can!
I really think it would be cool if every corps got together and opened today's Team USA match with Dan Potter introducing Team USA and right after he announces the team the combined Drum Corps opens with the loudest and most disrespectful opening chord and gets DCIs first ever red card.
Just throwing it out there but for anyone who is in Utah, do you think there is any interest in an Independent Winds Group? We have a non-profit, instruments, and everything business wise ready to go but we just want to gauge interest before we double down and get started.
Hello! I'm from the US, looking to get to know some people and to have some cool conversations. I love reading, traveling, music, film, sports and food. Any of those topics work or if you just want to talk about something you think is cool I'm all ears too! Just looking to make some friends on here.
As the title suggests lol I am an American man looking to have a long term relationship with someone.
There is a ton about me but I will try to keep it brief. Cooking, traveling, reading, and performing music are the main parts of who I am.
I currently run my own web and app development business, which fortunately has given me the opportunity to travel and live the life I want.
My goals are pretty simple, I just want to live a happy life traveling, enjoying good food, wine, and music / art with whomever I am with.
I know this is brief but if you want to know more than reach out! I also love learning about other people!
Hello! I have a kiddo who was recently diagnosed with Autism and I was wondering if there are any other parents on here who know if the Idaho Falls District or the Bonneville district have good resources for Autistic children? He's still in Elementary school but we want to make sure he is set up for success and if we have to change him to another district or even a charter school we will. Thank you everyone! 🙂
Hello! Some questions for band directors out there.
I’ve recently been named Managing Director of a nonprofit registered in Florida, though our admin team is spread across the country, the founder now lives in New Mexico, and I’m up in the Rockies. We currently perform as a Drum Corps in the SoundSport division, but only meet up once a year.
We’re hoping to find a permanent location (likely out west) and start operating more full time, beginning with a WGI Winds Independent ensemble (and possibly other WGI programs down the line). As we search for that location, I’d love your thoughts: how do you think we could make a positive impact on local band programs in the area?
Beyond building a competitive ensemble, we genuinely want to support local programs, whether that means helping cover costs for clinicians or Solo & Ensemble judges, letting students use our instruments during marching band season, providing other opportunities local directors would love to see or whatever else would be useful. Do you think directors would welcome a partnership with a local non profit like this in their community? Any other thoughts on how a non profit can help out a program?
Any cool book you would just love to see as a movie or series of movies?
Back in the DCA days there was an All Age corps in Colorado called High Country. Does anyone know why they folded? Could Colorado ever see an All Age corps again?
So it's been awhile since they closed down, but does anyone have any idea why they couldn't hold staff?
When you first started playing the Trombone, what Trombonist did you listen to that got you to fall in love with the Trombone?
Enjoy this fun meme from the NPR Classical Facebook page! Hope everyone has a good Friday today!
Hello everyone! I'm the new Managing Director of Phoenix Drum and Bugle Corps. I'm new to the organization but I'm looking to expand and grow it and its parent organization, Spectrum Performing Arts, into something bigger such as a more year round All-Age Corps and maybe some other cool stuff in the WGI world. Right now we just do SoundSport once a year in Indy. (You can even join and play along with us for fun if you're going to be there, just let us know!)
I was wondering if anyone here would like to help on the admin team. If anyone is good (or at least slightly better) than me at Social Media, Coordinating Volunteers, Logistics, etc, then we could use you!
We don't have a central location yet and that's one of the things (out of many) I'll be looking into, but you can be from any place in the country and still be a contributor!
Email me at Admin@phxcorps.org if you are interested and ask questions in the comments! I'm already working on a lot of cool changes and I would love to get as many folks involved as possible! 😊
Hey everyone! My family is seriously considering a move from Davis County to Morgan and I’d love to hear from anyone with firsthand experience especially parents of kids with Autism who have been through the Morgan School District.
How has your experience been overall? Did the district provide solid resources and support services? Did you feel like your child’s IEP was taken seriously and their needs were genuinely met?
We have a kiddo with Autism and want to make sure we’re moving somewhere that will set them up for success. Any insight, good or bad, is really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
