Should I feed my two month old in her sleep [BC]

My two month is sleeping around 7 to 8 hours at night. During these hours she will stir a bit and lightly try to suck her hand which tells me she's hungry. But she's too sleepy to eat. She will eat a bit from my breast and fall back asleep. I am not sure how much she'd eating because I do a have a supply issue. I offer her a bottle in her sleep and she drinks it while sleeping. Should I continue doing this?

Can't figure out breastfeeding [BC]

I will start my saying that I have a lactation consultant appointment coming up but also wanted to know other people's experience. Breastfeeding has been a constant challenge with my now 3wk old. I introduced a bottle early on for top ups because baby was not latching well and was jaundiced. The issues I am now experiencing are as below:

Baby now latches generally well (sometime will reject a boob) but will only suck actively for a minute or two. Previously I felt this was due to her falling asleep but now also notice this when her eyes are open. Then comes the cycle of breast massaging, stimulating with cold/burp/diaper change). This goes on for 10 or 15 mins, sometimes shorter. During this time she stops sucking actively and only nibbles or sucks actively but let's the nipple fall out of her mouth and does not relatch. She is limp and sleepy at this point which we were told is a cue that she is done. But she will cry soon after and the cycle repeats. Is this cluster feeding? Because if I offer her a bottle (with a primie nipple and paced feeding) she will suck and drink well and sleep well after. If I don't offer her a bottle this cycle can go on for hours. We were told that babies expend calories after 45 mins and we should aim to finish her feeds in 45 mins.

I am unsure now if I have an undersupply or baby is just not sucking well. I have stopped pumping unless I skip a feed and also reduced the top ups significantly. This is due to advice that baby should always be on the breast to up supply. She still gets more than 6 wet diapers a day. I am not sure if my supply is low, if baby is getting enough from the boobs or if I am messing up my supply by cutting off pumping. I don't know how to tell if baby wants to feed due to hunger, cluster feeding or for comfort.

I am feeling very exhausted because there seems to be no end to this.

Feeling overwhelmed with breastfeeding [BC]

Gave birth 3 days ago. Had some issues with latching. Now baby latches generally but both nipples are quite sore and bruised during feeding. Today I think the milk is coming in and breasts are quite painful and hard as well. All in the all there is pain all around. I tried pumping and hardly got anything. I have started to dread breastfeeding and having been supplementing with formula and bottle feeling. Not sure what to do anymore.

How did your labour go? My experience is different from I imagined [BC]

Looking for other peoples experience with labor. I had really severe right sided abdominal pain which I thought might be my liver. Went to the hospital and my midwife assessed me and told me I was in early labour. Through out yesterday I had constant pain which increased when I had a contraction. I was having very frequent contractions. However today the contractions have slowed down and only mildly painful. My midwife did say this might happen but no one around me has had this happen. I was hoping the pain would continue to increase and I think I might be having a stalled labor?

How to keep newborn baby cool at home during this [BC] summer?

I am due first week of August. I live in an apartment which gets a lot of direct sunlight and can get pretty warm due to floor to ceiling windows. I do have an AC in the bedroom where I can keep the baby cool but I am worried about the day when I am out and about and will likely want to keep baby in the living area. Would a fan in their crib be sufficient to keep them cool? I am not sure what temp I should aim for as I am sure they don't need to cool down as much as we do. Weather forecast calls for heat waves this summer so I would like to be prepared.

How to convince midwife for a third trimester US [BC]

Hi everyone. I am an anxiety prone person and lately after watching a video I have fears of my something being wrong with baby that wasn't caught in the anatomy scan as well as the baby not being a girl as indicated in that scan. I really want a girl and I know I'll be heartbroken if it's not a girl. I am sad that BC doesn't offer a third trimester growth scan like some of the other provinces. I am wondering if anyone has successfully convinced their provider to give them another scan.

Attending FIFA while pregnant

Hello I am attending FIFA this Thursday. I heard the wait to get in can be long. I have a lot of backpain due to pregnancy and won't be able to stand in lines for very long. Is there a way I can request to be let in more quickly?

What can I eat that is GDM friendly that won't make me vomit [BC]

I have been dealing with persistent nausea and vomiting since the beginning on pregnancy. Currently I am nauseous most days and some days I vomit as soon as I eat. I end up only eating soup, fruits and some bland carbs (puffed rice). I am not very frustrated because I have been diagnosed with GDM. I am not confident I'll be able to control it with diet because I can hardly eat. On top of that the advice to exercise after eating also won't work for me because movement after eating also triggers vomiting. Has anyone been in the same situation as me could share their experience.

To note: I am already trying different medications for the nausea and vomiting. Unfortunately nothing works satisfactorily so far

Low Vit B12 at 28 weeks [BC]

I have really good B12 in the first trimester but after having retested at 28wks I am now quite low. I am concerned how this may have affected by baby's development and impact moving forward. I would like to hear others experiences who have been in the same boat. Thank you.

Short road trip ideas for visiting Family that do not hike

Hi everyone, my mom is visiting Canada for the first time and I really wanted to show her the Rockies. However I am pregnant and won't be able to fly due to restrictions and not comfortable doing to long drive so late in pregnancy. I am wondering what are some good road trips from Vancouver that might be equally impressive but only takes a day or two. For example, I think mt baker would've been perfect but she doesn't have a US visa. Would appreciate suggestions!

I have been feeling the baby kick for a while now but I feel this week things have changed. I have started to get Braxton Hicks, severe reflux and return of the nausea/vomiting. Now I am noticing the baby's movements feel different. It feels like vibrations/ripples as if baby is moving through jelly. I have my midwife appointment in a few days and I am not overly concerned. But I was wondering if this something I should be paying more attention to or is this normal as I probably have more fluid in the uterus now?
