Bought this at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. Signed "R. Burge '74" on the chair back. Oil on canvas, hand-stretched on bars labeled "Standard Brands Paint Stores" (a chain that had Phoenix locations in the 70s), so the artist was likely local to Arizona or the Southwest. I've searched the usual databases (Smithsonian, AskArt, auction records) with no luck. The work is skilled — clearly a trained painter. Hoping someone here might recognize the name or the style.
