I applied for my passport renewal using the Seoul Embassy back on April 29. I still haven't received it, and the mail courier hasn't received it either. I have other friends who applied at the same time as me and got their back already. Currently, in the status update system, my passport shows it was mailed to the embassy last week. When I contacted the embassy, they just told me to wait the full 4 weeks before I contact them and won't give me any update on when I can expect it at my door. I have an out-of-town travel coming up, and I am considering canceling it because I need to be at my home to sign for it. I also have an international trip in 3 weeks and a visa application in process that I need to update with the new passport number for. I did note this on the application. I was told on the embassy website that passport applications submitted abroad are automatically expedited, but it's taking longer than it would have if I had just traveled back home and done it there.

I am considering contacting my state senator to see if they can get involved in giving me an update but I am not sure if they can inquire about applications submitted abroad.

I have noticed I have photos that have been sitting in pending for almost 6 months. I wonder is it worth it to delete them and resubmit them or will they again be marked as data marketplace? Should I just delete them and take it as a rejection?

I am in the process of renewing my passport. It expires May 2027 but I am applying for a visa to another country, which may require my passport to be valid for at least a year after their approval. I filled out the application, paid the renewal fee and scheduled the Ilyang courier to pick it up this Wednesday. I had a few questions regarding the process:

1. Do I need to place the stuff (application, payment confirmation, old passport, and self-photograph) it in an envelope myself?

2. Do I address it to the embassy in Seoul or does the courier take care of it?

3. How long is the turnaround these days (for those who have done this recently)

4. Will I get the old passport back? I have a China visa valid for 8 more years in the old book. The Chinese embassy said I can continue to use that visa as long as I travel with both passports.
