It all started late last year—back when I genuinely believed I had a chance with her.
We were part of a fairly large friend group, around 5–6 people. We talked on Instagram and in school since we had been in the same class for two years. It wasn’t love at first sight. It was… strange. One day she just appeared in my dream—and after that, something changed. Out of nowhere, I started liking her. I began noticing everything about her. The way she talked, the things she liked… I admired it all.
At that time, we barely spoke in real life. But things changed when I found out she liked a show that I loved. That became my entry point. Whenever her group talked about it, I would slowly join in. One conversation led to another, and before I knew it, we were talking regularly.
Time passed, and we got really close—almost like “twin best friends.” And by then, I was completely in love with her.
I had made a plan. On the day of our farewell, I would finally confess.
By that time, I had also become a core part of our friend group. There was another guy too—someone I considered my best friend. I trusted him. I even helped him become part of our group by praising him and bringing him in.
Big mistake.
As he got closer to the group, things started to change. He began acting distant, cold… but only with me. In our Instagram group chat, everything would be dull—until she came online. Suddenly, he’d show up too. They’d talk, laugh, have energy. And the moment she left, he went back to being cold again.
I noticed it. But I ignored it.
Then came farewell day—the day everything fell apart.
I arrived early, excited and nervous. One by one, my friends showed up. Then she called to say she had arrived. We all went to greet her. That guy walked up to her, complimented her, and she smiled, praised him back.
When she came to me, I said, “Hey, you look really good today.”
She ignored me.
Completely.
I laughed it off on the outside… but something inside me cracked.
After the orientation and performances, that guy started pulling her away from the group—especially away from me. I felt pushed out, like I didn’t belong anymore. Still, I gathered courage and finally asked her to come with me so I could confess.
But before I could say anything, he showed up—with the whole group—and changed the plan.
That moment… it broke me.
We all went out together afterward—ate food, played games, laughed. She clicked pictures with everyone.
Except me.
That hurt more than anything else.
I went home that night and cried until I fell asleep. I didn’t eat properly for days. I even got sick.
A whole month passed.
During our final exams, I tried to act normal. But on the last day, after the exam ended early for both of us, we were talking… and she mentioned something.
She said that he had been acting flirty. Sending her reels. Giving hints.
I told her everything—how he treated me on farewell day, how I felt.
She didn’t care.
She was almost… unfazed.
Then she said something that I will never forget.
“If he confesses… I’ll say yes.”
In that moment, it felt like something physically broke inside my chest. I walked beside her, smiling on the outside—but inside, everything was collapsing.
Still, I held onto one hope: he wouldn’t confess.
I thought he didn’t have the courage.
I was wrong.
A few weeks later, through a mutual friend, he admitted that he liked her.
And she said she liked him too.
Just like that… everything ended.
All the conversations. All the memories. All the effort I put in. It felt like none of it ever mattered.
I stopped talking to people. I stopped eating properly. I felt empty.
The only person I could turn to was my closest friend—someone I’ll call Lamp.
I told him everything.
And he said something that stuck with me:
“It’s unfair. The guy who didn’t even try properly got her… and the one who gave everything got treated like nothing.”
And honestly…
That’s exactly how it felt.
