I'm asking this because they both have Sox in their name

So I have a friend from school who is from Japan. They've been here in America over 12 months and sometimes when I text them, they won't reply back or they'll send just a quick GIF or something. I have been nice to her this whole time, so I don't think that's a reason why I'm not getting a text back. Or is it because I send them too much text? Because I do that whenever I enjoy a conversation. Also, it says they read my message, but they just won't reply.
