Locating earrings maker

Hello,

We were at the fort kinnaird Leith Collective shop yesterday and bought a pair of handmade earrings. We were looking to find the maker as unfortunately the box didn't include the name and we wanted to look at other earrings they had/follow and support on socials.

They are patina brass, I've included an image. If anyone knows the maker could you let me know?

Electric wheelchair or mobility scooter

Hello all,

I am at the unfortunate point of being housebound because I can no longer safely walk alone outside with my mobility aids. I live alone and am trying very hard to maintain independence. I have been out on my own twice in about 11 weeks and have deteriorated quite significantly in that time.

I am looking at getting a powered chair to allow me to get to the doctors, to the shop or go out a couple of times a week for a short 'walk'. A mobility scooter would be cheaper and much more adept at handling the pavements in my area (which are a real state, especially improperly completed drop curbs). However they are larger and I am worried about the fatigue incurred by having to use my core and have my arms up to use the handle bar. An electric wheelchair would be worse at handling the pavements but I think it would possibly be less fatiguing and more comfortable.

I am hoping to get to test them soon, but I wondered if anyone else has any experience with them or could offer any insight? I'd love to know what worked for you.

MECFS, PoTS and cardiology (rant)

I have ME following glandular fever at the start of last year. I was diagnosed with PoTS in July (symptoms since glandular fever infection) by my GP and referred to cardiology to rule out serious causes and look at treatment.

Had my cardiology appointment on Wednesday, first time out on my own in over a month and I rested for a week beforehand. I use a rollator.

I have been in a pretty bad crash since May that has seen me go from mild to bordering severe ME. I now use a rollator outside, stick around the house and a wheelchair to go out with someone pushing me. I have been horizontal 90% of the day for months, drinking loads of water and electrolytes and using compression. My PoTS symptoms are much improved from this but still flare when I shower or walk.

I explained everything to nurses, the lady who did my ultrasound and the doctor on Wednesday. Here are some highlights of what I was told by all of them:

- oh so you use the rollator for your confidence

- have you tried sleeping more

- your ME clinic should be prescribing for you (it's a rehab with no doctors or nurses, to my knowledge there are 0 doctor or nurse ME specialists in Scotland at all)

- you do know there's no cure for PoTS

- you do know there's no cure for ME, I can't magically wave it away for you

- whatever you're doing is good

- (when I tearfully explained that 'whatever I'm doing' is nothing and I have no life, I was told) well I don't know what you expect me to do about that, I'm not an ME expert

- oh so you just want pills. You know they come with side effects? They aren't going to fix you

I eventually after heavily advocating for myself got the doctor to agree to include a recommendation to my GP for medication for pots during the 'next flare' because he thinks right now I don't need it.

I heard the nurses and doctor discussing me before I went in. Needless to say I don't think that telegraph article from last week did me any favours in there. Their minds were already made up.

Just ranting about this and the fact that every single interaction in my life is requiring me to advocate for myself to a frankly exhausting extent.

Sending you all love!

My sunflowers are rude

I rent so I can't plant into the ground. Spent months tending these buggers in pots, sown inside and transferred out, watered every day even with a disability that makes it very difficult to do so. I just wanted a pretty and tall border of sunflowers to look into the garden, and they've got the gall to face out of my garden, over the fence to show their pretty faces to my neighbour.

I have to walk to the carpark to see my own flowers. Bastards.

(I'm new to gardening and as it's a South facing garden getting more sun in the pm I figured they would face west. I'm delighted they are alive and the bugs love them)

Pelvic pain and period pain

Hello,

Writing this while quite upset after an appointment so there may be lots I forget to add.

I (25f) have been having horrific periods since I started having periods at 11. Everything from severe pain which needed excessive pain relief to fainting, vomiting, heavy bleeding etc. Originally only on period but over the last 10 years I've experienced IBS symptoms, intestinal pain, pain with ovulation, tightness and irritation through my abdomen. It's getting worse overall.

After a long NHS waiting list I was finally seen after 3 years in April. The gynae referred me to an expert consultant who's really well practiced in finding endometriosis and adenomyosis on ultrasound. For years I (and GPs, and the gynae) have thought this was what I must have.

Well this afternoon after a very long and painful ultrasound exam he said there is no sign of either. Clinically there's nothing relevant on the ultrasound. Because of his expertise in the field I trust him and he said I should consider whether to stay on the laparoscopy waitlist.

What I want to hear is: if you had symptoms like mine and they weren't endo or adeno, what were they? I can't go on like this, my life is nonexistent. I need the pain to stop so I need to know what is going on.

I have no real point of contact for the gynae department there and I just feel like I'll be run in circles.

It feels wrong but I'm devastated they didn't find anything on the imaging. I just want to know what's wrong.

Helping a moth

Hello,

I found my cat with this (i think yellow underwing) moth, helpless on its back, a couple of hours ago. I have put it in the shade with a cotton pad soaked in water.

Wings seem a bit less crumpled now than in the photo but it did seem to lose lots of scales. It's resting but idk what to do with it. I have a lot of garden birds that will gobble it up so if it can survive it'll need to be carefully placed.

Meals and meal prep

Hello! I'm diagnosed ME now moderate with periods of mild and periods of severe. If find cooking and housework especially draining.

I live alone, I already use mobility aids including a perching stool, and I have no support system at all.

I'm looking to hear about how you deal with meals and meal prep. Since this all started I've had nausea and food has lost its enjoyment for me. I force myself to eat because I'd be skin and bones otherwise and I know I won't ever recover if I'm not nourished. But I find cooking so difficult, and anything extravagant just won't be cooked. I try smaller meals throughout the day to protect energy but the up and down to retrieve it from the fridge is exhausting.

I also work and am struggling to plan lunches and snacks well enough in advance because I'm so tired in the evenings it's hard to make food for the next day.

Anyone in a similar position, what do you eat? How do you plan it? Do you use anything to help you cook?
