I’m quite new to knitting, decided that my first project would be a blanket (painfully aware I will need to knit 500 million squares for a decent sized blanket). I’ve have done a square in stockinette stitch with a thick garter border but even so it still curls and I feel like it looks so disproportionate because it kind of curls in on itself in the middle. I am almost finished so hoping it will flatten out a bit after blocking.

Is there any other patterns I could try?
I did attempt a moss border but honestly gave up because I felt like I had to concentrate too hard lol.
