We're looking at EV fleets as an infrastructure problem, not just a vehicle problem

I've been spending time on the commercial EV side and one thing keeps coming up.

Buying the vehicle isn't necessarily the hardest part.

The difficult part is operating 50–200 vehicles consistently.

You need:

  • financing
  • vehicles
  • battery/charging
  • maintenance
  • fleet tracking
  • rider/driver operations
  • replacement vehicles
  • utilisation data
  • working capital

We're working on this problem at https://get.hyprelectric.in , and I'm trying to understand where the biggest gaps still are in the Indian market.

For people operating EV fleets today: if you could fix ONE part of the ecosystem, what would it be?

I think EV fleet economics is becoming more important than EV specs

Most EV discussions still focus on:

range
battery size
top speed
charging time
vehicle price

But for a commercial fleet, I think the more important metric is:

How many productive days does the vehicle give you per month?

A ₹60k vehicle that works 29 days a month could be more valuable than a ₹50k vehicle that spends 5 days in maintenance.

Then you have:

utilisation
rider productivity
battery availability
maintenance turnaround
financing cost
replacement vehicles
residual value

Curious whether fleet operators agree or whether I'm overestimating the importance of uptime.

Hyderabad EV rentals — what are people actually using for delivery work?

Seeing more people looking for EV rentals in Hyderabad, especially for delivery/gig work.

I've seen names like Zypp, Bijliride and others come up, but I'm curious about the actual user experience.

If you've rented an EV for delivery work in Hyderabad:

What did you pay per week/month?

How was the battery/range?

What happened when the vehicle had a problem?

And most importantly — did the economics actually work after rental + charging + maintenance?

Looking for real experiences, not recommendations from companies.

What does a ₹65k electric 2-wheeler actually cost to operate for 3 years?

I've been trying to model the economics of commercial electric 2-wheelers in India.

The vehicle price is actually the easy part.

I'm more interested in the full picture:

Purchase/financing

  • down payment
  • EMI
  • electricity/battery
  • maintenance
  • insurance
  • downtime
  • rider utilisation
  • resale value

A vehicle that looks profitable at ₹65k can look completely different once you account for downtime and financing.

For anyone running a delivery fleet: what numbers do you actually use to decide whether an EV is worth deploying?

Would be useful to compare assumptions from different operators.

For people running EV delivery fleets in India — what is your biggest headache?

I'm trying to understand the commercial EV side of India beyond the usual "range vs charging" discussion.

For people actually operating EVs for delivery/logistics, what causes the most pain?

  • Vehicle downtime
  • Battery degradation
  • Charging/swapping
  • Finding reliable riders/drivers
  • Financing/EMIs
  • Maintenance
  • Low vehicle utilisation
  • Theft/damage
  • Something else

Would especially like to hear from people operating 10+ vehicles.

I'm researching fleet economics and would rather learn from actual operators than from generic industry reports.
