I have car insurance for my own vehicle, at my own address, as a single driver with a good driver's record.

My neighbor who just got a DUI is losing their license for 18 months. They have asked me to "be put on their insurance" because they do not want to let their insurance lapse for DUI reasons. They tell me that I don't have to do anything, that I am not risking anything, and that there are absolutely no ramifications, no matter what happens, for me doing this. We are with different insurance companies. They tell me they need my name, address, DOB, and driver's license number.

I have concerns.

What are the potential ramifications? As far as I know, the main driver for their vehicle is someone who is already not on the insurance, because they can't declare that they live together for other reasons. What happens if a car I don't own, that I wasn't driving gets in an accident, and the driver is someone who has the car owner's permission, but no insurance standing on the policy?

I appreciate any and all advice from people who have experience with the insurance side of this, or the DUI side of this. Thank you in advance!
