Weird marks

Weird marks

This is the back of my left bicep. I have been using the visible tracker for about two weeks. I adhere it to my skin using adhesive stickers designed to cover insulin pumps. Took the off today to charge and have all these weird marks on my arm? No idea why.

Current client teaching my child

Hi there! I just learned my child got a free pre-k spot at the elementary school in my district. These are not easy seats to come by and we can’t pass it up. My issue is that a current client teaches there as a specials teacher, meaning my child would more than likely be my client’s student. Thoughts on the ethics of this situation?

Edit: client and I have worked together for 6 years and they teach music, therefore every student in the school works with them.

Assistive devices

I just had a realization that was a long time coming considering I was diagnosed three years ago. Just because you can do something without an assistive device, doesn’t mean you should or that it wouldn’t help you. I was in the shower and it occurred to me that even though I can shower standing, a chair would probably help me reserve more energy and prevent crashes through over exertion. I have just been under the assumption that unless I absolutely couldn’t do something without help that help wasn’t needed. Does anyone use assistive devices to complete daily tasks even though you can technically do it without one? Does it make a noticeable difference in your day-to-day to make these accommodations?

Anemia?

Hi! TLDR is I’ve felt awful and not like myself for nearly 5 years with little-no answers. I know I have hypermobile EDS and POTS at this point and just saw an amazing allergist that did extensive bloodwork to look as Mast Cell. I’ve had innumerable blood tests over the years to look for anemia because of my consistent complaints of symptoms that line up, but my iron levels are typically normal. Today, however, I received my first result that seems to indicate the possibility of anemia according to wha to can gather online. The results are as follows:

Iron, serum: 82
Saturation: 17
Tibc: 491 H
Uibc: 409
Ferritin: 52

Does this point to anemia or could there be another reason my Tibc is elevated? Thanks!

Calling all my FT Telehealth therapist POTSIES peers

Hi! If the title didn’t give it away I am a FT Telehealth mental health therapist with POTS, hEDS, and probably MCAS. One trend I think I am noticing is that sitting in front of a computer all day seems to really takes it out of me. My session volume doesn’t seem to matter much, except I am definitely more exhausted my high volume days. But conversely I can also feel so exhausted by “lighter” days, too. I can’t seem figure out for the life of me what it is exactly that is impacting me. Is it the peopling, the screens, the lights, or sitting upright? Am I not eating enough or drinking enough? I am obviously under no illusion that you can answer these questions for me. I am also well aware the broadly the answer is probably yes to all of the above. But I am curious if anyone else shared my experience and has insight around what might help or what factors might be contributing to the post-work day crash. Thanks!

Vocal lessons for kids

Hi! My almost 5 year old has expressed interest in vocal lessons and I am having a hard time determining what’s out there for her age range. Anyone have recommendations for vocal lessons for children in the area? Thanks!

Advice on restoring or replacing bike

Hi! First, I will say I have no idea what I am doing and am not a ~cycler~ so be gentle. I have a Spalding Blade that I bought in 2019. I love her. She hasn’t been ridden in like two years and has been stored outside covered. I recently spoke to a bike shop that quoted me $600-800 to get her refurbished and tuned up. He also suggested that I considering just getting rid of her and getting a new bike. While I am not entirely opposed, I would love to fix her up if I can! So I’m curious about others thoughts are. She doesn’t seem to be in super bad condition! I’m am not delusional and I know she needs some work to safely be ridden again. Here are my questions:

Should I scrap her or is she salvageable?

Could a layperson with a can do attitude and access to YouTube attempt to work on her?

What are some of the necessary repairs or replacements I’d likely need to make?

Thank you for imparting your knowledge on me.

EDIT: Very sorry! I realized after posting this that I had misremembered the conversation. The quote in the original was for two bikes; $200-300 each. Which obviously is more like $400-600 total, not $600-800.
