Black AMEX

This is for those who have it I suppose. If you live in the US or Canada, how did you get sufficient purchases on your AMEX to unlock black? So few stores or restaurants accept the card and half the time when they do it triggers security and locks it.

My motivation for wanting it is business travel and meetings. I know you have to show money to make money.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your insightful thoughts, feedback and ideas. I'm reading all of them even if I don't reply. It is very challenging to have offline discussions on these topics with anyone so I wholeheartedly aporeciate doing so here.

How does this pricing model make sense? One lounge typically costs less than the one a year pass. Am I missing something? (I know its not true luxury, sorry)

I got it as a gift from a shop that was giving away products at the end of their shelf life. The shop is reputable. The trouble is that this product expires this month. I opened it and tried it a few times. It has no yellowing or other clear issues. The product once opened only has a 6 month time span. I don't see any negative effects although its a little hard to tell because I returned home recently after being on a road trip for two weeks and hotels have much brighter lights. There isnt enough time to see if the product worked.

Has anyone tried this product before? Have you done so close to the expiry?
