Why is my simple routine breaking me out?

I have combination skin and I don't know what to do at this point because I can't tell what my skin needs.

Every single product I use has fungal acne safe ingredients, yet I still get tiny bumps on my forehead and between my eyebrows. My skin is insanely sensitive and I feel like my skin barrier is nonexistent, yet the products I use for repairing my skin barrier and hydrating my skin break me out all over my face. It just sucks because my skin has been looking very bright, plump, and hydrated thanks to my current routine, but the acne and texture obviously mean I'm not using the right products.

In the past, even azelaic acid broke me out. The only thing that greatly improved my texture and acne was glycolic acid, which I used every other day, but it made my skin so red and dull. Idek anymore.

My routine (AM):
-beauty of Joseon rice milk toner
-COSRX ultra-light invisible sunscreen

(PM):
-beauty of Joseon green plum cleanser
-Skin1004 centella ampoule
-random store brand niacinamide moisturizer

Sungboon Editor cream in serum

I’m obsessed with this stuff! It’s another TJ Maxx find and I might go back and grab another one because it was only $12.99. My skin is dry (I’m in Colorado) and I’m also using Tazarotene, so it can be extra dry sometimes, but this stuff is like magic. I’m not crazy about the dropper because you have to push the button twice at the top to get enough out, but otherwise it’s amazing stuff. It also has a good rating on Yuka and there’s no detectable fragrance in it.

Any Experience?

Greetings everyone. I am still less than a year Korean Cosmetics user and very inexperienced.

I came across this brand and product at Costco.

What can you share about your experience with it?

Thank you for sharing 😃

Do you think the dark bottle color of this Toner is important to protect the product?

So the reason I ask is because I like to transfer my toners to 50ml airless pump bottles. I'd rather pump it a couple times and get a uniform amount each time rather than jerking off a bottle and hoping for the best. It also makes them fit my narrow washroom shelf. But I paused before doing it with this toner because it says probio (like probiotic right) so now I'm wondering if this color is actually to protect some probiotics from degrading 🤔? Dark bottles are often to protect something from the light so I'm not sure if I will change it by moving it to a clear bottle.

Does anyone know if it's more marketing? Is there actually anything in this that will degrade? Has anyone transfered theirs or am I weird? I can't find the info online so I'm hoping someone here has magical answers for me :)

Finally found a routine/products that keep my break outs in check!

I feel sooo much better now, so much more confident!

Oily, dehydrated and sensitive skin and most skin care for acne prone skin isn't nourishing enough so I had to experiment a bit and find a balance between too rich and too light.

Started incorporating Aloe Vera Gel and 5% Niacinamide Serum into my routine and that helped immensely. I swear by the Aloe Vera Gel, it's amazing!

I use:

1.Klairs - Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil

2.TOCOBO - Coconut Clay Cleansing Foam

3.Beauty of Jeoson - Rice Milk Toner

4.Niacinamide Serum 5% (drug store brand, made in korea)

5.Holika Holika - 99% Aloe Vera Soothing Gel

6.PURITO - Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer (morning)

6.PURITO - Dermide CICA Barrier Sleeping Pack (evening)

7.Epiduo - 0,1% Adapalene/2,5% Benzoylperoxide (some nights)

Looking for an SPF Face Spray

Hi hi :)

I’m often not able to re-apply sunscreen throughout the day when I’m wearing makeup.

I’m looking for recommendations for a sunscreen (preferably 50spf or higher) that is a face spray.

Almost acting as a setting spray that dries matte.

Something to go off: I absolutely love the Beauty of Joseon rice+probiotics sunscreen!

Thanks 💜

Korean skincare vs Western skincare

I noticed that Korean skin care is currently famous on TikTok and Instagram. Many people seem to prefer it to Western skincare brands because they see more of the effects.
What are the biggest differences between Korean skincare and western skincare in your opinion?
As a French person I feel like I’m about to discover a whole new world here 😂 curious to read everyone’s opinions.

Barrier repair skincare

So, I'm researching a bit to improve my skincare routine for barrier repair, and I was searching through brands and products that have ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol, hyaluronic acid (which according to my research are essential for barrier repair). I have a dry/ combination acne prone skin. I've gained interest in the below brand skincare lines and products targeting barrier repair and was wondering how did y'all like the below lines/ products? Any thoughts?

I don't double cleanse everyday, just when my skin feels too dirty or I am out for longer hours than usual. I oil cleanse with manyo cleansing oil. Usually I use the cetaphil cleanser, Tony moly rice toner (I'm thinking of getting the ceramide one), I use a vitamin C serum sometimes but I think I'll switch to anua 100+ hyaluronic acid as soon as this one finishes and then seal with cetaphil moisturiser. For sunscreen I use the cosrx aloe Vera sunscreen.

I'm currently using cetaphil gentle cleanser and cetaphil moisturising lotion. I'm looking to repair my barrier. Is this a good product choice or should I switch? Because I don't think cetaphil harms my barrier but doesn't repair it either.

Below are a few products/ skincare lines I would love your views on!

Bioderma (atoderm line)

Dr Jart+ (Ceramidin line)

Illiyoon (Ceramide ato line)

Physiogel (Daily moisture therapy line)

Real barrier (MLE technology ranges)

Zeroid (Intensive & Pimprove line)

La Rochay Posay (Cicaplast line)

Torriden (Dive in hyaluronic acid line)

Laneige (Water Bank blue hyaluronic acid line)

Anua (nano - hyaluronic acid line)

Mixsoon (minimalist glacier and centella hydration ranges)

S.nature (Aqua squalane & Oasis line)

Cosrx (Hydrium hydration system)

Few products -

Numbuzin No.1 Pantothenic B5 Active Soothing Serum

TIRTIR Ceramic Cream / TIRTIR milk toner

Johnson face cleanser

Beplain mungbean low pH cleansing foam

Manyo pure cleansing foam

Heveblue The Salmon Caring Centella Bubble Cleanser

Round lab - The 1025 Dokdo Cleanser

Skin 1004 Product help

Which sunscreen and cream is right for me from skin 1004 line? I recently used the blue cap one and it was very nice but considering my skin is combination it had way too much of a dewy finish for me. My skin is combination and easily clogged. It’s also sensitive and I want a moisturizer and sunscreen from their line that suits me!

spent way too much money on skin boosters in korea, you're welcome

ok. so tried 4 skin boosters in Korea so you don't have to (part 1: hydration & repair)

ok so basically i have dry sensitive skin that breaks out at literally anything and i'd been losing elasticity way earlier than i'd like lol. barrier repair was my main thing. ended up trying a bunch of skin boosters over the past year and here's what actually happened

Rejuran ok this one HURT. like genuinely did not expect it to be that bad. but honestly the results were good enough that i'd probably do it again... after mentally preparing for like a month. my skin felt way less reactive and more resilient after so for sensitive skin girlie it did its job

Juvelook THE NASOLABIAL FOLD IMPROVEMENT WAS IMMEDIATE. i'm not even exaggerating i saw a difference within days which like... never happens?? hydration was also really good. lowkey my fav just for the instant results alone

Rejuvelook (Rejuran + Juvelook combo) thought this would be the ultimate power move but honestly idk. couldn't really tell if it was that much better than doing them separately. probably just gonna do them individually next time, leaning towards Rejuran again since barrier is still my main thing

CellREDM haven't tried this one yet but it's literally next on my list. it's different from the others bc it doesn't just stimulate collagen — it replenishes your skin's actual structural components directly. sounds intense in a good way lol

anyway hope this helps!! might do a part 2 on lifting if anyone's curious — ulthera, thermage etc 👀 lmk

New to Korean skincare — is 3 steps enough to start?

I’m new to Korean skincare and trying not to overbuy right away.

My skin is combination: oily T-zone, but my cheeks can feel dry/tight after cleansing. I keep seeing routines with toner, essence, serum, ampoule, moisturizer, sunscreen, and sleeping masks, but I’m not sure if I need all of that yet.

For a beginner, is cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen enough to start? Or did a toner/essence make a big difference for you early on?

My First Yesstyle Order just came

So my first Yessytle order just came and can't wait to dive in. Obviously I'm going to take it slow 🐌 and start with one product at a time preferably the moisturizer first and then slowly incorporate one at a time to see how it goes.

I got the mini versions to test them out before fully committing. My focus was on calming, barrier healing and hydrating products PLUS vegan + FA safe. Skin is very dry patchy, clog prone on the forehead and very prone to redness due to irritation or dryness (not sure tbh)

Need gel moisturizer for oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin in hot humid climate

Hi everyone! I have oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin and live in a very hot and humid climate (around 40–50°C). I’m looking for a lightweight gel-based moisturizer that is genuinely non-comedogenic, barrier-supporting, and calming for sensitive acne-prone skin. I prefer clinical or dermatologist-style products similar to CeraVe rather than heavily fragranced or cosmetic moisturizers. My skin gets oily easily, so I need something that feels light, non-greasy, and comfortable in humid weather while still keeping my skin hydrated and calm. If anyone with a similar skin type has found a moisturizer that actually worked for them, please share your recommendations and experience. Thanks in advance!

Stylekorean fake event

Recently stylekorean had a review event for pharmacy box for those who bought it and were sent link on email to participate and provide review for chance to win 100 points.

Obviously I participated and reviewed after 1 week of usage. And then I waited till may 8th since as per email winners were supposedly announced, however no winners given. I msg on chat to stylekorean, only response I got is that those who won will be msg individually. But I don't see any other reviews on reddit with higher upvotes and there were a few who participated due to restrictions, so it got me thinking this was fake from the first place and just a gaslighting event to get more reviews and people to purchase from their overpriced site and shipping. Truly disheartening, since if you can't provide incentive then don't bother putting a fake event, since they can't be transparent with their winner. So fake

OY vs Yesstyle - Products Pricing

So I have been ordering from multiple vendors but last night I noticed that the prices on OLIVE YOUNG are higher than any of the other vendors and they also still charge you tariffs. Yes they have better bundle deals but sometimes you just want to get one product to try out. I then went to YESSTYLE and their prices are significantly lower without tariffs so I ended getting myself the following because I want to try:

- House of Hur - Weightless Sunscreen
- COSRX - Ultra Light Invisible Sunscreen
- JUMISO - Niacinamide 20 Serum

While I like the low prices it makes me wonder why the price difference. Not to mention hope they carry minis which are technically samples. Almost makes me question if the products are real. Has anyone ever received any like what you would call fake products from YESSTYLE?

What Korean skincare step helped your skin feel less tight?

My skin is dry-to-normal and sometimes feels tight, especially after cleansing. Was there one Korean skincare step that helped most with comfort: toner, essence, serum, moisturizer, or sunscreen?
