Hey guys. My skin type is dry, sensitive, and breaks out easily due to a weak skin barrier. I live in an area with high humidity, but lately, the weather has been really hot and dry, which makes my skin feel so confused, even itching a bit :(
I have been using a simple hydrating toner in the morning to balance things out after cleansing, then layering it with my serum and moisturizer. But honestly? I haven't seen much of a difference lately.
I’ve noticed moisturizing milks have been trending a lot on my feed. Since the texture is a bit thicker, I’m really tempted to try one. For those with similar skin types, does moisturizing milk actually give better hydration without clogging pores? Would love to hear your experiences or any suggestions. Thanks a lot 🫶
Do you change up your skincare when you’re actively breaking out? If so, what products do you implement to clear your skin? Or do you continue using your routine waiting for your skin to clear? I use to find recommendations on TikTok and Instagram but I can’t seem to find reliable products that don’t seem like advertisements anymore.
I’m in Korea, and lately it feels like skincare marketing here is all about absorption.
Every brand says their product helps active ingredients absorb deeper into the skin, and I get what they’re trying to say, but honestly… I still don’t know how much of it I really believe.
I’m not saying all of it is fake. I do think formulas have gotten better over the years. But if a product is using genuinely advanced delivery tech, can it really be sold at normal Olive Young prices? That’s the part I keep getting stuck on.
Maybe I’m just being cynical, but a lot of these claims still feel kind of vague to me.
Like, when brands say “deep absorption,” what does that actually mean to you?
Do you believe some products can really deliver actives that deeply?
Or do you think it’s mostly marketing language made to sound more scientific?
I'm curious to know what people here think, especially if anyone has a better understanding of the science side.
I bought this Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner from Amazon (it’s original), but after using it for 2 days in a row, I broke out around my jawline. I usually get closed comedones on my jaw and chin, but they were actually under control before this.
My skin is dehydrated, combination, acne-prone, and very prone to closed comedones.
AM: Water only (no cleanser), PanOxyl only if I have active breakouts, ANUA Azelaic Acid 10%, Hada Labo Milky Toner, and Isntree SPF.
PM: Micellar water (I rarely wear makeup), PanOxyl only if I wore makeup, Azelaic Acid 10%, Hada Labo Milky Toner, and zinc oxide as a barrier layer.
Back in Pakistan, a 10% glycolic acid cream worked amazingly for me. After moving to the U.S., I tried the L’Oréal 10% Glycolic Acid Serum, but that also seemed to break me out (or maybe I overused it).
I feel like I need an exfoliant to keep my closed comedones under control, but this toner clearly didn’t suit me. Any recommendations for a gentle exfoliant for skin like mine?
So I bought the glass skin starter kit a week ago and have been using it religiously, the serum AM and PM, cleansers only at night and I also started using the medicube triple collagen cream AM. I noticed my skin was very glowy at first, like the glass skin they promised if you will, but now after using it the full week I’ve noticed some breakouts on my right cheek and forehead. I tend to sleep on my right side so I thought maybe that’s why I only have breakouts on that side, but why now and not before? And what about the forehead? I’ve seen a few posts describing this same problem specially with the anua serum. Do you guys know if this is some kind of purge? or just a bad reaction. I don’t want to suspend it specially since I’ve only used the routine for a week but idk if it’ll get any better over time. Could it be the medicube cream? The breakouts are mostly blackheads and comedones, they appear daily, new lesions that weren’t there before.
Edit: ty all for making me realize that just cause the products are sold as bundle for a skincare routine it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to start using them all at once. I’ve suspended the serum and the medicube cream and I’m sticking to the cleansers for now since I’ve already used them before. I’ll reintroduce the serum once my skin clears and make an update for people interested, probably in a week or two.
Btw I have normal skin but it tends to get dry at times (I live in cold weather), I don’t think it’s exactly acne-prone since I only get the occasional pimple if I eat greasy foods or around my period but it is sensitive and I’ve had allergic reactions to skincare products before. My main target with the kit was my pores since they’re kinda big around my nose and cheek area.
As Korean skincare is famous for its many steps and diverse product types, I'm so curious to know how many steps/products people in this community *actually* have in their morning routine!
Also, on top of answering the poll, which steps do you typically follow in your morning routine and which products do you use?
I'll also make a post like this for your evening routines and post a link to it in a comment down below :)

I also made a poll about your morning routine, if you want to answer that one too :)
As a man who never wearks makeup, not once, I kinda thought double cleansing was a waste, or potentially irritating for my skin for minimal benefits. Like risks outweigh benefits type beat. I do wear sunscreen but not every day, and I thought gel cleanser was enough. Plus, I hate cleansing oils because of the mess they make.
My girlfriend gifted me a Banila Co CLEAN IT ZERO cleansing balm in a pink jar. I had never heard of it. She told me it was a holy grail for her, and since she knows I hate the oil consistency she thought it was perfect. I tried it once and my skin felt amazing that night, though I did feel a bit of irritation on that first use.
I have since incorporated it every friday to my routine. My skin is clearer than before using it. I treat it like exfoliation, once a week. Gel cleanser every night (no cleanser in the morning, ever), and one night a week deep cleaning with the balm as well.
I wonder if I can attribute this imporvement to the balm cleanser? Or do you think it has to be something else? (maybe weather, diet etc, since I haven't made other changes)
if you don't wear makeup, highly recommend you look into this regardless. I think every day is too much irritation, even gel cleanser I skip on some days, but having a balm cleanser in my cabinet to reach for sometimes is key.
Hi all! Had a really bad experience with Anua azelaic acid and their customer service and looking for other brands you love for azelaic acid and hyaluronic acid since I won’t use Anua anymore! Thanks 🤍
yall. i have never been so impressed by a sunscreen as i have until now.
i honestly went into this w low expectations because i originally got this as a free gift from yesstyle, but after using it, i went to purchase 4 more. wtf. its so lightweight because its a serum, but its also hydrating. its not too watery or slick or oily, just feels like skincare. idk how to even describe it, its like the perfect in between; i didnt want something that dries down completely because i still wanted the hydration, but i also highkey HATE thicker hydrating sunscreen textures. this one tho? i have absolutely ZERO PROBLEMS.
the packaging and nozzle? MWAH. the price? MWAH. the TEXTURE???? HECK YES. i never write posts like this but this sunscreen might actually be my new holy grail. no white cast, absorbs into skin beautifully, and perfect for summer too. it has no scent and it has been great for my acne prone, combo skin so far!! sits great under makeup too. one thing to note is that it contains niacinamide!
Hi I used to think I have blackheads so I start using ilso sebum softener but couldn't see any result only later to realise it's sebaceous filaments, now I don't know what to do will ilso work on filaments or I need to switch on to something else?
I have been using the Torriden solid in cream since it first launched in Korea, we are talking multiple tubs. Recently I noticed the texture and how it applies felt different and I was not imagining it, turns out the formula actually changed!!! Saw some people here on reddit saying it broke them out and they were pretty upset asking why it got reformulated in the first place. For what it is worth I did not personally get any breakouts, I just noticed the texture difference. If your skin tends to be sensitive or reactive, it might be worth checking how your skin does with panthenol before applying this on your whole face.
I reached out through the official Torriden website when I ordered and actually got their answer back, sharing it here in case anyone else who used the old formula is wondering what changed. Personally I am still getting used to the new texture but it is growing on me the more I use it.
Official response:
panthenol was increased from the previous formula to provide denser hydration and more effective skin barrier support. That said, because the concentration is higher, some users may experience temporary irritation depending on skin condition or individual sensitivity. We recommend doing a patch test behind the ear or on the inner wrist before full use. This renewal improved the texture to feel smoother, with better skin adhesion and absorption, so the cream is not supposed to sit on top of the skin anymore and instead absorbs faster and feels more plush going in.
I just got the popular Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil and I’m OBSESSED. As a quick review - it’s an amazing double cleansing oil. I’ve tried many top brands and so far this is my favorite.
My question is this - I’m really in love with the smell. Do other products in the line smell the same? Is it the heartleaf that makes it smell this amazing?
I especially want to know because my family is hyper allergic to perfumes and artificial fragrance but I can use natural essential oils and things so I’d love to find what the source of this amazing smell is so I can potentially find a way to wear this scent.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!
I was thinking about using the torriden serum for hydration, and then use the numbuzin 3 serum for texture help. But is it usually okay to use two serums in a routine?
In my opinion this is the best daily sunscreen ever. I love the applicator, it’s so light non-greasy and doesn’t leave a white cast, no weird smell. I don’t get how its not more popular than beauty of joseon, tbh BOJ is overrated it’s very liquidy and I dont like the formula and it had a weird smell - i use BOJ for my body though and never on my face
what korean cleansers and moisturizers should I use?
note: iv been using adapelene gel for about 3 weeks now for my acne. I recently bought was the skin1004 Centella sunscreen as well.
I saw this reel on IG and want to grab one for makeup.
Has anyone used one of these and can recommend for me?
thank you in advance!
