Is it possible to fix alternating exotropia?

I found out a couple of years ago that I have alternating exotropia, although it manifested during high school. I sometimes try to make my eyes align but it hurts too much and even though I try and wear my glasses as much as possible I can still tell that my eyes shift a lot, particularly because I'm mostly only using one eye to see. Are there any specific exercises I can try or is surgery an option?

[IWantOut] 24m UK -> Italy

I've been trying to figure out a way to move to Italy for a couple of years now. My two reasons for this are my study area (anthropology) and desire to continue studying this field specifically in Italy, and my desire to live with my partner. Last year I was unsuccessful in getting a visa to attend a language school in Italy and this year so far 5 of my 6 applications to anthropology-focused Masters courses have been rejected (no. 6 isn't back yet) so I'm beginning to lose hope in continuing education as a pathway to Italy. My partner and I have considered marriage as a way to get me to Italy where I can hopefully continue education or seek employment once there but as they're disabled they can't work and therefore we can't qualify for the visa. It feels like time is running out for us as my partner is stuck in an abusive home and I can't figure out how to get to Italy to live together so that we can build a life. I know that most likely I will have to wait until next year and try to reapply to Masters courses while I work in the meantime but I really worry about my partner and I don't know what options we have left. If there's any advice people have I'd love to hear it :)
